I will attempt to help some of our "newbie friends" know the major characters in the Poser World. Let's start with Dork (P4 Nude Man) and Posette (P4 Nude Woman.)

Here are Victoria (DAZ3D) and Voluptuous Vicky (Wurmmaster). (I didn't bother to texture Voluptuous Vicky's clothes or hair.)

Very good!! Ron Those lights are great. What kind of lighting you use?

ronknights ( ) posted Tue, 29 January 2002 at 4:09 PM

Thanks. I was very basic here. There is no "set." I just enabled the display of the Ground Plane guide. I believe the lights come from DAZ. On my Poser menue, it says UD Lighting. I used the Mid-day warm and hot lighting, depending on the mood. Ron

Howsabout the milkids?

ronknights ( ) posted Tue, 29 January 2002 at 7:36 PM

Does anyone want to contribute their own images to this lineup? I missed some "major characters?!' I don't have the pleasure of owning either the Millennium Girls or Boys. I hope to get them one day so I may illustrate a book of children's poetry I wrote.

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 5:04 AM

You're missing Eve, SMV and Dina. Eve is free; I don't know how many people have SMV and Dina.

ronknights ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 5:58 AM

I don't have Eve around right now. I have Dinah, but I never got any hair or clothes for her. Would someone else like to add some of the characters I forgot? Feel free to add them. Ron

Here is an example of Michael 2's versatility. You can use morphs to give him more muscles. I used the Muscular 4 morph setting.

Here ya go, Ron. I don't have that lighting set, but I tried to match your style. Anyway, should be proof-positive that SMV and SMMV are _not_ the same person, as they are both in the same pic!

Supermodel Lori (who isn't realy as good as she looks) and the P3 Nude woman (who doesn't get a lot of press these days, but she can remember...) First (and probably last) time I ever used the P3 woman! If you want to see a real horror story, look at the P2 Hi one!

SMD, SMMV, SMV, SML, oh - I forgot the S.M.L.E... (Short Model Lee-Enfield) ;-)

I don't have any clothing for Dina, SMD's stuff is in the construction stage, but the bikini almost fits regular Dina, the top isn't even close, though. Or maybe it was actually Short Magazine Lee-Enfield? Anyway, look how low the P3 woman carries her knees.

Thank you very much, friends, for stepping in to fill the void. I actually got Dina together this evening, and had time to play with her a bit before I had to run and bring my friend home from work. I'm not sure I got all this together correctly. I'm not even sure where I got the Dina texture and bikini. I think it was from Renderotica?! I used Vicky's Kristy Hair (From DAZ?!), and it looks passable. Maybe the hair is a bit too long to look right on her breasts?! Ron PS: Now where can I get Eve and any other free beautiful women that you've mentioned. I have some serious financial and health considerations that will keep me from spending money for awhile. (By the time I'm done I'll be toothless and wearing dentures... yech.) Jim Burton, I love your Supermodel Vicky. I can tell you it's possible to have the same person in a picture twice. That's what I did with Michael and his muscle morph. That's known as Postwork with PhotoShop! Supermodel Vicky is fantastic all the same.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 10:50 PM

Traveler has Eve 4.0 at his website, Morph World 3.0. Look in the Archives section. Pick up the Eve clothing updates while you're there.

Arduino's Eve is at Poser Magic.

ronknights ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 11:03 PM

Little Dragon, you brought back some memories. I downloaded one form of Eve or another almost a year ago. I got so confused by all the related installation files that I never used her. Arduino's Eve seems a bit easier, although you still need to use Mover. Ron

tevent2 ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 11:18 PM

I believe that is actually Short Magazine Lee-Enfield.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2002 at 7:29 AM

I think you are correct, now that I think about it. I do know a bit of the history, though, there was originally a "long" version, and a carbine version for the horsie guys to use, later they sort of split the difference with a "short" model. Supermodel Vickie, on the other hand is very tall indeed, especially in heels. All the Posette-based character now seem very short to me, as does the Dork, and even Mike could be a little taller. Isn't anybody going to ask about Supermodel Lori? She does look a bit like whats-her-name, the porn star that was found out to be underage, in this render, methinks.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2002 at 7:38 AM

Oh, I should also say the way I figure things, the Dork, Posette, Vickie, Mike, Dina and Supermodels Vickie and Lori are figures, as they have their own stand-alone mesh. Vickie 2, Mike 2, SMMV, SMD, VV, Eve, Blackhearted's pair (who we also need somebody to render) and whatnot really are "characters", as they use morphs to change the base figures. The ones that are textures only are just textures!

Jim Burton ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2002 at 1:06 PM

file_264263.jpg

Oh, I do have a couple more, now that I think of it. Natalia is dCorts figure, sort of Dina's forerunner. Angelyna is Blackhearted very nice free Vickie character, please note she doesn't come with this excellent texture, which is Jane II from cake1. Angelyn looks a little hippy here, but she is a dancer, and she looks very nice indeed in certain poses. But alias, she has no clothing, so she mostly does nudes. Be intresting to see them all side by side, with no textures, just plain white, all same pose. I could just about do that for the women, only I don't have V V.

Suggestion: Jaager had a great lineage of poser figures document. Don't know if he has updated it recently, you'll have to ask. It is in the FAQ for ab3dp. Might be a good starting place or a baseline then you could put out the call for other well known charactors he hasn't included. Also wanted another chance to thank someone publicly for a piece of poser knowledge that helped when I started. His text file made sorting through d/l's less confusing. Thanks Jaager. Only thing I've seen missing from these types of listings or tuts is the common acronyms people use to describe them. SMV? NYM? (I do know those now). I have to go to my tuts binder and jot down new ones constently. Thought I left the crazy world of acronyms when I retired from DoD :). jbear

oops, should have waited for the pic download before the acronym whine.. Sorry

I'm in the process of redoing my web site. I'd like to include a new section called "Poser Character Guide." Is anyone interested in working with me on this project? I'd like to perhaps include some of the fine art that's in this thread, and give proper credit to the artists involved. This project may take awhile, and it may not be complete before I upload my new site, with its new look. If you're interested, you can reply here, or IM me. It would be helpful if we could talk via email, or ICQ or MSN Messenger. For those who are brave, or feel silly, we could even try Microsoft Net Meeting. I got a web camera for a birthday present over a year ago, and have never had a chance to use it yet! If you can stand the site of a pot-bellied, balding 51-year-old frustrated artist, I'm game! Ron

Hi Ron!- Sounds like fun! I bet I'm uglier than you are, though, I know I'm older, I turn 55 this week. My email is burtonj@bucks.edu.
