Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 14 12:25 pm)
Heres how i do it :o)...I add a poser figure to my 3d app and scale it to 1000 (as they are they are far to small) then scale and position the prop to match..once all thats done and set up i delete the figure then reset all the axis of the prop to zero, rotation to zero and the axis scale to 1...then when you scale the model by .001 it brings it down to poser scale without shifting its relative position..then import into poser with all boxes unchecked......if its inside out go back and check the invert normals box....now if you can't do some of those in anim8or then import with boxes set at default BUT add a check to the "place on floor" box and change the scale to say 20% then position within poser, export and reimport with all unchecked ...Steve
BTW - If you have created a prop in RDS or Carrara, ... when you "import" the object, UNcheck "Percent of standard figure size:" and import the object. Chances are that it's extremely large. So large, in fact, that you might not be able to see it [yet]. The object you just loaded should already be "selected", that is, it's parameter dials are the ones you see on the screen. Now, change the "Scale" of the prop to: 4.2% [for RDS] 1.05% [for Carrara] [menu] "Figure" ----> "Drop to floor" Your prop should be visible on the "ground." -or- You can get a free set of measuring props that allow you to scale anything you want in the Poser studio. [see geep's "Artist page"] cheers, dr geep ;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"
cheers,
dr geep ... :o]

I just modelled a simple open-backed drum in Anim8or, saved it as an .obj file and now I need to know what to do next in order to get it into Poser, scale it if need be and make it so that a Poser figure can hold it in their hand.
I tried going into Poser and doing an Import/Wavefront.obj, but nothing showed up (it said "drum" under the display window, but nothing was in the window)
Thanks,
Joan
