Zhukov ( ) posted Sun, 03 February 2002 at 2:39 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 7:57 AM

Greetings, Please accept my apologies if this question has been asked before and answered. Im getting an error in WinXP after i just installed Carrara1.0 (i also tried to run it with the 1.1 updater) it gives me this error, "The required file MSVCRT.dll is not the correct version, please reinstall the application" I reinstall and no luck, can anyone help me out, i tried to run it in Win98 Compatibility mode, but no luck also. HELP! Thanks in Advance, Z

MSVCRT.dll is (I believe) a video driver. Check your display setings and perhaps run ... directX diagnostics. ;=]

how? how?

Zhukov, msvcrt.dll is the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime dynamic link library. It's bundled with a bunch of other dlls so you have to install them all at the same time. This MS knowledge base article will point you at the latest versions. That should fix your problem. However since this will replace/update the dlls that just about every windows application uses, you may want to back up your machine before trying it. http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q259403 Good Luck, Eric Winemiller Digital Carvers Guild Freeware and commercial 3D extensions http://digitalcarversguild.com

I had the same problem, but it turned out to be my fault. I confused the old 1.01 updater with the required 1.1 updater. After running the correct 1.1 updater, Carrara started correctly with no MSVCRT message.

Where did you get the Required 1.1 updater from? The one I used was from Eovia.

Michael_C ( ) posted Wed, 06 February 2002 at 7:17 AM

This was the updater from Eovia. I e-mailed them when I had the problem and they indicated they were aware of the problem, but the 1.1 patch had fixed it as far as they knew. My own situation involved installing Carrara on a new computer. I'd copied over all my files but mixed up the 1.01 patch from MetaCreations and 1.1 from Eovia. When I sorted that out and ran the right one everything worked. If yours is a Windows upgrade you probably should reinstall Carrara and reapply the update. If you're still having trouble I'd ask Eovia technical support. Good luck.

If you are still trying to run it with Win98 Compatibility mode, turn it off after updating to 1.1.
