Hihi all, wanted to let you know that it would appear that our beloved old friend Acontius has created at least 1 fake email address and morpheus account in my name and has been logging in and using them to send out spoofed email, and to share illegal files in an attempt to frame me. The stolen identity email address was lizbirdsong@hotmail.com. We do not think he will be able to send email from this address anymore ;) But you can never tell. However there may be other attempts at identity theft from Acontius in the future, in the form of spoofed email accounts, or other memberships out there that we do not know of. If you have recieved email from this account, or any other that you suspect was not me, please contact me via instant message.

I do not have access to his IP addy to know his ISP to contact. Maybe you could contact his ISP?

LOL... he helpfully sent me an email from the spoofed account that uses my identity ... gloating, and with an attached screen capture showing all the files of mine he is sharing using his spoofed identity on Morpheus as well.

Yeah, well that's the problem, I guess. No one has Morpheous installed so you can't find out his IP addy. I'd report it anyway, just so it's on record, in case he decides to do worse than he already is though.

I guess some people just have nothing positive in their lives so they occupy themselves with trying to make everyone else's life as miserable and lonely as their own. It's sad really. I'll bet this halfwit is probably a pimpley 14 year old boy with delusions of being a "hacker". He's angry at himself and the whole world, so he comes here and screws with us. You can see by the way he typed his post that he is an emotionally disturbed individual. This is just a cry for help. One tip for you Acontius: They're called "anti-depressants", use them.

Mehndi, if he emailed you you can get an IP address from the mail headers. It is possible to forge that, but you could at least try to trace his ISP from an IP address. It would be a beginning.

He emailed out of hotmail, using the fake email addy he set up under the name lizbirdsong, to show me what he is capable of doing to me ;) He also attached a screen capture of the Morpheus account he has made using the name lizbirdsong, sharing all of my files, and some others too. As far as I know, trying to track down someone out of hotmail is almost impossible. Thanks Clint :)

hotmail does not mask the originating IP number. Simply look for a line in the email header... "X-Originating-IP: [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX]" In Eudora it appears immediately above the "From:" tag in either simple or advanced mode. Your email client may be different. As an additional check there are search tools available at http://www.samspade.org where you can cut 'n paste the entire header & it will decipher it for you.

Thanks cooler. I didn't know that Hotmail attached your IP to their emails. And ... well ... guess who's IP was in the email header. :) Thanks Acontius. Every stunt you pull adds to the evidence trail.

Don't forget to refer back to my original post stating the exact statutes he's in violation of...damn, I knew I should have screen captured his posts... Russ, any way to rebuild those? Nothing like self-incrimination...

The only way to really delete a message is for one of us coders to nuke it from the database. Pressing "Delete" just hides it to the members. The admins and mods of that forum can still read them just fine. So, nothing to rebuild. :)

I don't understand how he can share YOUR files from his computer by using your hotmail account. Isn't that site like networking your computer to a huge group? Maybe I am dense, but I don't see how he can share your files without real access to your machine and YOU having the actual peer to peer software installed on you machine. Please explain that to me.

I just reread that, sorry it sounded acusing, I didn't mean it that way. I just don't understand how that can be done without contact to your computer with the offending software installed.

He's sharing files that he already has, they are just of her creation. He is pretending to be her while doing so, to give the impression that she is participating in warez. He is also using her identity for defamatory purposes.

Yep Micheleh, that is about it. He has created FALSE email and Morpheus and other accounts Barbarellany, using my name as the login name, and using files he has stolen from me and others through his warez sources. He is using his false accounts to make it appear that I am giving away not only all my own files, but those of others as well, and also to send out email that appeared it might have been sent by me, but was not.

Oh, so he had already stolen the files, he's not in your computer. I wasn't understanding that. It seemed he had some sort of access to you computer and that wasn;t making sence.
