Can use poser to turn 3ds file into a posable prop or do I need a different program, and if so what do you recommend. I try FAQ but old phone lines, thus it takes a year or so to find things. Thanks for your help. Tashar 59

Picture is worth a thousand words. Import the mesh, then save to props library of your choice.

Thank-you very much.

To make it poseable is another matter - Depends on what the prop is, whether you need morphs orparenting separate props together, or what. If you post a pic, I'm sure someone here can help you figure out the best course to take. Also, you really should consider checking out the Tutorials link above - you'll learn so much about what's possible.

I would like the flaps and tail to move. FAQ and tuts I check first before I ask questions, so maybe I missed something.

There are some good tuts , one is at www.sams3d.com the other at www.posertech.com If the flaps and tails parts are seperate groups its very easy, if not , you have to use the grouping tool to make sepate props out of them, make a hierarchy and than continue

If you made the model originally and you're more familiar with 3DS than Poser's grouping tool, you could also try chopping out the moveable parts in 3DS & importing separately. Then you could position them in Poser, parent them to the main mesh, and set them up to pivot as you want (you may need to move the origins to make them move properly). This is the method I've used to make prop doors pivot as around a hinge in a prop doorframe. Another, probably better method is in the excellent tutorial at SAMS3D (see Link) it tells you how to make an OBJ poseable (you can export the prop as an OBJ, if needed)
