Ok now I'm pretty much a newbie on this stuff. I have already made some pretty nice renders in bryce, and i am experimenting with poser.. Everywhere where i look i see this Vicky/Milly/Posette What about it? they are not in My poser. Can i download them somewhere. coz all the clothes seem to be made for these characters. Why? A you see, a lot of questions. Help me out please.. thnx

Daio ( ) posted Thu, 21 February 2002 at 10:28 AM

Posette is a nickname for the P4 woamn who comes with Poser 4. Vicky/Millie is Victoria who must be purchased seperately at http://www.daz3d.com

Rennie, not all the clothes are for vicki (I assume you've been to free stuff) but because vicki is new, much of the new stuff is for her. actually there is a lot more stuff for the standard P4 people. here are some sites for you http://www.3dcc.com/posergamers/default.htm (characters) http://209.92.41.204/Poser/dlframe.html (clothes, etc.) http://www.thorneworks.com/index1.html (fairies) http://www.morphworld30.com/index.html (morphs) http://www.poserfashion.net/ (nice clothes p4 & vicki) http://digitalbabes2.com/ (best hair on the net) http://homepage1.nifty.com/Two-sword/index.htm (clothes) http://home.att.ne.jp/yellow/RUBI/topenter.htm (nifty stuff) http://www.geocities.co.jp/Milano-Aoyama/7431/index.html (clothes)

Yeah, as Daio said, Posette is the P4 Woman. You can find her in the Figures tab, under People. Now, Vicky/Millie, as I know, is THE best female model released so far (although I have yet to hear is Voluptuous Vicky is better than Victoria or not). She's kinda expensive, but hey, what woman isn't? (Sorry, couldn't help it). You can get Victoria (get the 2.0 standalone version) from www.daz3d.com. From what I've heard, she is worth every penny you spend. As a matter of fact, get Michael too, so she won't feel lonely in there with only that lame-o P4 Male to go out with. Damn, I gotta buy my Victoria.

You may also be interested to know that the P4 Man is affectionately known as the Dork around here. You'll also see lots of references to Micheal--for some reason he hasn't got a cutsey nick name. Micheal is the premium Poser Male from Daz3D.

Tom, when we start calling Michael with cutesy names, well, something must be wrong with us, then, don't you think? ;)

This picture shows Victoria and Voluptuous Vicky. By the way, you might wish to spend some time looking through the subject headers in this forum. At least once a week we have a thread talking about the major Poser characters. You might also want to check my web site for some good Poser stuff. Ron

I just wanted to mention if you don't have Micheal and Vicky in your budget right away there are some excellent texture maps and morph targets for Posette and Dork to be found here (free and for sale); these can make the P4 people look as good as Micheal and Victoria. One thing I highly reccommend though is that you read the stuff on Daz 3D carefully. Micheal and Victoria 1.0 can't wear P4 clothing and neither the 1.0 and 2.0 models don't come with texture maps (skin). Micheal and Victoria 2.0 can wear P4 clothes, but essentially it's taking Mike and Vicky's heads and popping them on a P4 body. The best buy to start off with is to get the Micheal and Victoria 1.0 CD collection which comes with hair, skin and clothes. You can then use all that stuff with Mike and Victoria 2.0 when it's in your budget to upgrade. You'll get an upgrade price for 2.0 too.

ronknights ( ) posted Thu, 21 February 2002 at 4:17 PM

You have a great point there. One could really sit down and look at all the stuff that goes together. Yes, you want Michael and Victoria to have the following: 1.) Skin (texture) 2.) Hair 3.) Clothes 4.) Various accessories, other outfits. You can download Mike or Victoria for one price. But they don't come with the clothes, etc. So you add the price of the clothing packs, etc etc. It can add up. Figure what you want, and check with others to see if that list is accurate, or makes sense. Then add it up, looking at the different options, and then make a choice. In the end, you're hooked, and you can get some sympathy here. Ron

You may also want to check out a few more free characters and explore what can be done with the default figures. One of the best offerings out there for Posette is Staale's Body Morpher and his textures. The morphs and poses provided with Body Morpher will definitely change Posette into something that looks nothing like what ronknights posted, believe me (and if you don't take a look through my gallery!) Another possibility is to get AprilYSH's remapped Posette which uses Victoria textures so you can utilize any of the Hi-res textures with Posette as well. You can find the remapped versions for both P4Fem and P4Male at 3D Arena. http://3-darena.com/downloads.html Now, some may say that Posette doesn't bend as well but Yamato has done wonders with his characters' Joint Parameters and there's even less breakage than what I see on a straight Poser render of Vicky without touch-ups. If you'd like to see some of his characters they're hosted at Masa's Poser++ site http://www.eurus.dti.ne.jp/%7Emasasi/ but be aware that conforming clothes with thigh and shin parts to them will be a task because of the new joint setup. I have to say I'm very happy with a combination of all of the above that I customized myself and is now a massive cr2 of about 50-60MB. Some other detailed additions such as Traveler's morphing brows, Yamato's eyelash prop, Bushi's real eyes and later just eye glints props have completely transformed the figure I mostly work with and many people haven't recognized Posette in it! As you can see though this all leaves the P4Dude sorely lacking. A very nice figure with great body changing poses is Lee Moon's PSL which you can find at Renderotica and again using AprilYSH's remapped version you'll be surprised how much the Dork changes. Hope this helps you out some too :)

ive been posting this everywhere, lol.... get lithunwrap. then, you can create your own textures 4 poser figures... this gives more control than uvmapper. why i post this you ask? i think its getting ridiculous w/ every1 chasing after some1 elses figure. (mike and vicki). i think poser comes w/ plenty 2 let you create your own figures... dont 4get that you can, 2 a medium degree, morph your figure w/i poser thru use of dials... then you can create your own morph targets, and between that and the mapper, you should be set... lol im talkin smack, cuz i havent gotten into mt's yet. but 2 have poser, and then go running after other figures seems a bit much. i got so tired using other people mt's. it came time 2 create my own.... thats just me tho..... happy posing...

Atom...tx 4 the link. I'll try not 2 4get it.

Rennie ( ) posted Fri, 22 February 2002 at 7:25 AM

But what are the major difference between victoria/posette michael/dork. besides the fact they look different? do you have more pose options. more detail? more detailed bodyparts you can edit? I mean i checked daz out but i think it is pretty expensive for just 1 character, and i haven't even calculated the exchange rate yet (i live in holland) that comes 78 euro's or something... yikes!

ronknights ( ) posted Fri, 22 February 2002 at 7:54 AM

Rennie, Your question has been answered, in great detail, above. Basically Michael and Victoria are more sophisticated models. They look better. They handle all your needs much better. If you're still confused, why not go back up there and re-read the messages. Sometimes I have to do that myself. Ron

Tomsde ( ) posted Fri, 22 February 2002 at 11:06 AM

Rennie, To sum everything up for you, basically Micheal and Victoria have many more morphs, better accessories, and more sophisticated texture maps. Creative people here have learned to compensate for the deficiencies of the P4 people, however, and so they have the potential to look just as good as the DAZ people. I'd say a lot depends on how you intend to use your Poser people whether Micheal and Victoria are worth the money. Play around with the P4 people and see what you get, also visit the web galleries and compare images. Nothing says you have to run out and buy everything right away. Many of us here on the forums, although we'd love to, can't afford to get everything at one time either. I add a little something each month depending on my budget, if I were to buy everything I wanted right now I'd be broke. Good luck and happy posing. If you have any other questions just let us know. Tom
