Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
To the best of my knowledge, there's no easy way to do it. If you're looking for a program that'll automatically create a model from a scanned photo, there are two that I know of: Carrara, which only works on square-cornered objects (I think), and another program whose name I don't remember. But I remember the price: $700+.
Sounds lke you jumped in the deep end first! I probably can't help you with your model, but maybe I can help you with your question? You are asking about applying textures, and you've already read widely... so you probably have a more interesting conundrum. what exactly is your trouble? Please be as specific as you can. It also helps if we know your computer system OS, that sort of thing. If you can post pictures showing the problem, folks may recognize it. Try to detail as much as you can what you mean to accomplish-- there are some amazing artists and modelers here who might be able to give advice. Welcome!
I am sorry! like i said i am very new to poser.i geuss i have`nt been very clear on what i am trying to do. i want to put the face of my grandson on one of the boy models poser. i have tried altering the the texture map from with in poser by cutting and pasting his pic onto it. i have also tried making a new texture map with the uv mapper and photo shop.but i have not been happy with any of the results, maybe i am exspecting too much! some one told me that all you can do with textures is change the color of the skin. but i read this one tutorial where this man was able to put his face onto the male bussiness man texture, and he showed a pic of the model after. and it looked just like him. glasses beard and all! he said he did it with poser 2, i have poser 4, does that make a differance?

i still suggest that You look at Cake1's tutorial. i asked you in an earlier message if you have read it but not sure you saw that. i have linked it above. It tells you how to make a photographic texture. The other tutorial i would point you to would be http://www.3d-cc.com/quagnon/tutorial/index.html Which is a basic skin texture tutorial by Quagnon and tells you how to make a skin texture from a uvmapped template. Namaste, odysseyEtta, You can put a photo texture on a model in AvatarLab (see the CuriousLabs website), but those are really low-poly figures for the most part. You need good images from front and side to do this. Remember that getting a face to be recognizable is more than the color image, but also the shape. I believe that Cake1's tutorial also covers "morphing" the shape of the face to match the photo. You will want the angle of the jaw and shape of the nose to fit before applying the photo. There are people here who have worked long and hard to get faces of celebrities right. They usually post a picture showing the photo and their model and ask for comments, and we make suggestions for improvement. When we work on something for a long time, it is difficult to see it clearly and a fresh set of eyes can help. Carolly
