can't you guys be more original than that??? Poodles are one of the smartest breeds out there and far more territorial then even a german shepherd. They make better guard dogs than most because frankly they are smarter - it's not their fault people took their hair cuts (origianlly designed to keep their joints warm in water when hunting) to the extreme... :~) Seriously my husband says he hates poodles too - until we got one and he had to admit the dog is smarter than any he's had before so :~P Now where am I gonna find a poodle model....

Hey I've had lots of the little ankle biters. My mom used to breed them. Here is a toy they all love. Get a small fishing pole (about 2ft long) an ice fishing pole is ideal. Also get a fishing reel. Put about 8lb test line on and attach a medium sized(about 3 in long) toy mousie at the end of the line. Cast and reel it in. I had poodles and pomeranians and they would go crazy for this toy. I had to hide it in the pantry closet and the poodle would stand outside the closet and cry for the toy.
Hmmm... Yep. That's a smart dog for ya. Yep. They could do that all day. Just kidding. I think standards are gorgeous, and I've seen some beautiful cuts on them beside the froo-froo over-done thing. It's the neurotic toys I can't stand. As to the model, I looked around and I can't find one anywhere. But I'll keep my eyes open.
Actually poodles do rate very highly in doggy intelligence. So much that they were an early contender to be a major guide dog for the blind breed. The reason they bombed out, however, is that they have essentially zip regard for the safety of their humans (unlike herding or shepherding breeds) and were constantly running them into obstacles and jumping over holes pulling their blind charges in. Scarab<-....gimme a "mutt" anyday....
I remember reading an article years ago about "Labradoodles" being bred for guide dogs for blind asthmatics, as poodles don't shed having hair not fur, but that even though they are one of the most intelligent dog breeds they needed the steadying influence of Labs to make good guide dogs. I like the standards too, even though they're too bouncy for me, although I've 3 german shepherds who could moult for England! :)
How about a poodle saddle to go with the chicken saddle? i know another lady on line here who would die to have a poodle model--is thinking about commissioning one, at that! (not me: i'm a cat-mother) She had a miniature poodle that recently died of old age, and she's so heartbroken. i wish i could find her a model, too. (Ratteler-- And the boss cat is not necessarily the big one! We have 2 visiting cats, both big toms each twice as large as my little 8lb. blue-point siamese lady--and she is such a bully! The toms are terrified of her. But--your point--she was the resident. And i'm her Mom, so she's very jealous of me. Jeez, when i talk to my housemates sister (the toms are hers) all hell tends to break loose between jealous kitties. The toms voluntarily stay in her room all day, they're so nervous about my girl. BWAHAHahahaaaaaaa)
LOL at Groingrinder, you know when I was little we had a cabin in Prescott, AZ. sometimes when my dad & I would go up there alone we used to "fish for squirrels" We'd tie nuts on the end of a fishing line and cast it down the driveway. When the squirrels came we reeled it in, sometimes we'd let them run with it for a bit and then reel it in. Of course we always gave them some nuts for entertaining us. :-) I'm a cat person too - we have 7 of them and I'm allergic... But Stan isn't a "real" dog ya know. He thinks he's a cat now (or else he's trying to blend in and fool the cats). He even has his own kittens that I got just for him and he chases them and rolls around with them playing and he's very protective of them. (He also gets very irate when the cats sneak on the counters and steal food - he always "tattles" on them). Poor thing was mistreated by the time I got him so he's jumpier than some. At first the cats terrified him - they are bigger than him and he is 10" - 10lbs and most of them outweigh him. The big mamma cat used to stare at him from about 20ft away and he would just scream... They were terribly mean to him, once I found him cowering under the claw foot tub while the cats tore up his little bow tie - they had torn it off him, it was like a scene out of gremlins... They were especially mean to him on the stairs, one would wait at the top and when he started up anoter would creep up behind him lol he'd sit on the middle landing and scream. He was smart enough to know what they were going to do to him. Now he is tough, and he herds them around like he is a sheep dog, and he loves - I know this because when a cat died he greaved so much his fur fell out... and when I was fostering some dogs and they got a home his fur fell out again... he's very affectionate ad follows me everywhere. So I think that Vicky should have a faithful and smart dog... ergo she deserves a poodle :-)

Lmao off Nan, I brought in a stray red Tom once - part mane coon he was HUGE! He went to sniff Guido (he's 4) and Guido yelled at him, that brought Guido's mamma (6.5) running and she tore that tom apart. There was red fur everywhere. I had a heck of a time getting hi off the curtain rods! Trouble (mamma) is a small kitty - not nearly as huge as her boys are. But boy was that tom afraid of her adn he had actually had the house first, his owners moved out and left him...

As far as making a model goes :) check over at Gloria Ghasts site (Ghastly Productions i think) and I do have a toy poodle scheduled for making later (coupla months from now) but as a prop. Now if you want a stupid dog - try afghan hounds. All hair, no brains. my family used to breed those, peacocks and Siamese cats. :) Oh the noise. Lyrra
Not my cats Stu-art. Cat's claim territory by nature. So if you don't claim what you want the first they want to be there, you loose out. ........................................................... What do you do pee every where you want to claim as your "territory". just kidding LOL 8^) I have 7 cats and one dog and they all adopted me. The three youngest cats are about a year old and always try to nurse on my dog. Not a poodle or pom.
if someone will find pictures...I mean good pictures from side, front, top High resolution images would be best. also need some close-ups of the face from various angles and if possible some good shots of the feet I will make the poodle (no texture, someone else can make that) and make it a free download for a while. email the locations or the actual files to me if you find the snow owl (same things needed as above..the feet images are a MUST in that case) Ill make it too..but not sure about it being a freebee cause birds are a pita to make. Im making a different set of characters (soldier bob) but I can break from that to make these. Besides, its taking for-frickin'-ever to get things online here anyhow, so there's no rush for that pack. :) BT
Always a dog man, Always will be a dog man. I like bigger dogs tho, Boxer, now theres a dog!!!!! A real beefy dog that could swallow a poodle whole, LOL. no seriously i like all dogs and poodles are good as long as their owners aren't idiots who cut their fur so they look like my hairbrush in the morning after a bad night.
Now Boxers are cool, my friend is a boxer breeder - over 50 years they've been breeding champions. Her dogs are gorgeous... She has one that was 11 and he seemed more like maybe 4 tops... I like little dogs - wanted a pug, but don't like the risk for them with anesthesia hubby wants a mastiff.... I think Stanley would like a Mastiff, they are very tolerant... but we have come to accept we are cat people... I will see what kind of pictures I can come up with for the poodle, thanks brycetech.

LOL, that's only one of the poodle cuts. It's not their fault I tell you.. my poodle wears and english saddle cut. Those pompms are there for a reason. Poodles (which is puddle in french) were great hunting dogs, they went through bushes and especially into water. Their fur was shaved to make it easier for them in the water, but the poms were left to keep their joints warm. Top poms were so they could still find them in the bushes.. So ends my lesson (geesh teh things one picks up hanging out with breeders and working in a vet hospital...)

I have a couple of pictures of our poodle when I was growing up. If nobody finds pics from the various angles, I will try to drudge them up. No room in my house for any dogs now. With the two cats and three fish tanks and the albino python who is getting WAY to large, I think my zoo needs to stop growing for awhile. But you know what, that fishing trick works for cats too. We go "cat-fishing" all the time. I have a three and a half year old son, and the fishing rod I bought him so he could go with mommy fishing had a small plastic fish on the end for the kids to practice fishing. So we fish for the cats almost every evening now. They love it. Angela
yup that's hair LOL, usualy you can actually pull a comb through it like brushing/combing your own hair....
Hold on and in a bit I'll scan Stanley's feet for you... ;-)

The best dog I ever had was a doberman, he was smart, fast, and had a twisted sense of humor, and he was big he weighed 110 lbs. and loved to go and fart in my best friends face whenever he got the chance, and Id swear he would run off laughing. My wife and I have 4 dogs and 7 cats now, her
s is a pekinesse / terrier mix, 2 german shepard mixes, one of them is half wolf ( yes really I saw her parents ), the oldest one is named Butthead, ( it suited him perfectly when he was young) and a dalmation mix. The cats were all strays that we collected over the years, I climbed up into the loft of a barn to get one after her mother died. One of the cats plays fetch, one of them is really bad tempered and randomly attacks anything or anyone except me ( my wife calls her psycho, but for me she`s just a little sweetie) I call her Freddie, named after Freddie Kruger from the movies.
it has been raining cats and dogs here, and has left poodles everywhere!!!
can't believe over six years no-one ever said that one in this thread, i'm very dissapointed in the lot of you, when are you gonna get a chance like this again, to do the old poodle gag eh?....i asks ya!!!........what is the world coming to .....etc...etc!
( if you go to page 335 of your poser 6 manual (that book thing that no-one ever opens), you will find a way to make a pom-pom)

Yep got you all beat. Old dog was named Damn-it. Fun to take to the park and let loose then scream at the top of my lungs "Come here Damn-it!" People looked at me with disgust until the dog responded to his name and I explained that was really it. Dog was good for a barrel of laughs. I miss my best friend.

Quote - There is a Weimaraner at Lannie's 3D Model World that could be used as the basis for a poodle. What you really need are the pom poms, which would basically be spheres or blobs with a transmap to make them look like hair. BTW I think the poodle pom pom cut was listed in the Encyclopedia of Bad Taste.

The dog breed you mentioned I believe was part of a series of Morphs for the P4 Dog by Lynn and from my last foray there have all been removed. I was kind of bummed because I was hoping to get the SabreTooth Tiger but it too seems to have disappeared. :(
A good solution might be to get the greyhound dog (done by someone else) and reduce the sizre and add the pompoms. Last I looked that was done by someone else and available here in the FreeStuff...stuff! :)

Why isn't there a poodle? Do you how fabulous Victoria and the new Stephanie could look in Jim Burton's Essentials pack walking a poodle?? For months' I have looked for a poodle... I havespent a year looking for a snowy owl... which I no longer need. But a poodle... I full size standard show poodle - maybe one that could be scaled down to toy size, so it will look like my little poodle Sir Stanley Good 'N Wet (no comments on how undignified his name is either! I get enough of that from avid poodle breeders as it is - and seriously it's not as bad as one of the cats "Lord FuzzButt, HRH [his royal hinnyness] )
