Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 30 6:52 am)
Hi David, Yeah, it is possible. In the Terrain editor, at the bottom right is the button for exporting the terrain. click on that, and you'll see your options. If you export as .3ds, it will import into Poser with the face normals all screwed up, so use .OBJ. The slider shows you how large the file will be in MB's BUT, in Poser, any "clip" you applied will not show up, and it will be very flat. Scaling it up on the Y axis fixes the flatness problem, though. Then you can position your Poser figures on it and save it as a .PZ3 and take it into Vue. There is also an option to export a faked version of the material and bump maps, if you want, but if you're piutting it back into Vue, you'd be better off just using procedural materials. Let me know if you have any problems. It can be tedious at first. Vue will erroneously tell you that you are overwriting when you save the terrain, but that's just a bug, so you can ignore it.
Thanks MikeJ, tried that one out, unfortunatly it only works with the ground, not the tree the character would like to sit in. But the ground exporting will come in very handy. I wonder, would there be any way to tweek the tree itself in Vue? humm think i'll see if that can be done ie bring the character in posed then fit the tree around the character.. thanks again for your help David
Oh, I see. No, nothing else other than terrain objects can be exported. You might have better luck doing what you suggest, or tryint to find a good looking tree model in a format that Poser can import. As for tweaking the tree in Vue, not really, but you can keep "growing" different ones until you find one you think will work best, since they do tend to vary, sometimes alot. Good luck!
Nice WIP. The finished project should be great. Love the roads/trails running over the terrain. I get a very Mediterranean feel from this, as if in ancient Rome or Greece. What's the name of that app you are using to overlay the two? jon

The name of the programme is PowerMenu its just a small exe 56KB and a 72KB DLL its got some nice little fetures in it. Oh well time to tackle the background, thanks for the comments DavidThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. Hi all. Had Vue less than a week, fun to play with. I mainly use Poser but would like to get better backgrounds. What Ive got in mind is someone sitting in a tree, but, is it possible to load a tree into vue then export it somehow to Poser so the character can be positioned into it (back resting against a limb with foot on another) then the figure be imported as a PZ3 to be placed into the tree in Vue? I have a nasty suspicion that this is not possible, any ideas? Thanks David
