Working late tonight on these and decided to take a break. Inspired by one of my favorite novels by Anne Rice. For those unfamiliar, her story is about the mother of all vampires- a 6000 yr old egyptian queen named Akasha. In her novel Akasha and her husband Enkil are the Adam and Even of Vampires. From their rule the cults of Isis and Osiris were born. The story is about her awakening in the modern world. I love ancient egyptian culture. Though very savage it is just so intensely beautiful. I love traveling to museums just to see their collections. Boston has a great Nubian Exhibit. Nubia was a great civillization of African/Egyptian culture where the african peoples shared the same architecture, clothing, and culture as Egypt- pyramids, mummies and all. Nubia was conqured by Egypt. Actually this is from my Rulers of Egypt Collection. Nothing is transmapped. Been working on and off on these for months. Everything is conformable and is seperate so you can use each item alone or with other clothes. face morphs and textures for Vicki, Mike, and Stephanie will be included. Still working on the other headdress/hair and Mike's Stuff. Anton

I don't know if anyone remembers but I had said recently that I figured out how to get long skirts to bend without the stiff hip piece; and the shins of the skirt could also bend independant of each other. This is a sample of that skirt shown. The colorful ribbon sash is a posable tail-like strip and not part of the hip. Notice that the legs are bent differently. No morphs are used in this image on the skirt. Anton

I think I spent the most time on this than I have any other project. I was downloading reseach pics off the web for months. In the end I recreated some classic Tut items and some most seen in Heiroglyphs. I wanted to say that Ellusion did the textures for the Treatures_Of_Egypt items(shown here). She was nice enough to do the textures for the furniture so I could develop the clothes. Almost done. Will be ready before April.

I'm an Egyptian nut, and like Alla I'm hanging out to see the movie! Anne Rice is one of my most favourite authors (a close second behind Traci Harding & Stephen King) Anton, absolutely outstanding s Another product of yours to add to my already overflowing Anton folder ;) Ellusion, the textures are simply stunning.

Holy Cats! i'm gong to faint, now. Outstanding!!! If you don't release this some time, i (and a lot of other people) will be haunting you permanently! Simply gorgeous. And yeah, where's that holy cat i was talking about...? ;^)

Daio ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 7:37 AM

As said before - this is incredible. I too have a great fondness for ancient Eqypt. In fact I have foldrs in each of my libraries simply labeled Eqypt where I have been collecting Eqyptian characters, props, textures, etc. I can't wait to add these to them. :-)

Sigh. Once this is done, all I will REALLY need is an Egyptian chariot and harness like the one shown above (from an actual temple painting).

The movie is not just queen of the dammed they also added stuff from vampire lestat. All in all it was good but not great. Wish they'd been truer to the book. Which is also one of my favorites. Glad to see you doing some new and exciteing stuff anton. Im allways so impressed with your work. Cant wait to get this. My wallet is gonna be so emty. That is if I ever get any more extra money. LOL.

Daio ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 1:39 PM

Really? That would be tremendous, Anton! I've already got a set of appropriate horse morphs and textures almost finished.

HEY! DID YOUR SEE IT? He's got the skirt and the sash so it bends when she sits! Is that a morph or is it conformed to do that? It MUST be conformed from the way her feet are placed! WOW! (Think I'm a little excited? Don't worry they're bringing my pills now!) Seriously Anton this is truely fantastic! mike

robert.sharkey ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 4:02 PM

WOW Anton, this is a absolutelly fantastic work. Booth on modelling and texturing. And the skirt is really clever. A cool addition would be a table with her Make-Up utensils. SHARKEY

Crescent ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 4:12 PM

If I remember correctly, Anton made a third leg for the skirt so it would conform properly. I understand the theory but have no clue how to do this in practice.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 4:51 PM

I abondomen the third leg approach in favor of a new idea. The 3rd leg would have been a fudge of sorts. This other way worked better. The skirt has morphs to soften stretching but no morphs are used in the sitting image above. Still tweaking the skirt but it responds to any pose you apply to Vicki.

And there is the CobraHeadress as well. In Egypt the royals shaved their bodies and heads-even the women. It was an aethetic of cleanliness. Seems silly to shave off your hair to wear a wig. Probably kept them cool in the heat as well.

I'm with Xena Anton, here's my credit card, just take the darn thing and get it over with LOL!! Daio, I also have a folder labeled Egypt full of characters, props, textures etc...I have always been interested in Egyptian culture and history and this is very exciting! And an Anne Rice fan as well :) Boy Anton do you have a captive audience or what!! I am very interested in the method that you have for making the clothing do what it does, it is a wonderful thing to see a model sit and have the clothing act appropriately, kudos to you for figuring that out!! I can't wait this is just wonderful!! Beautiful job Anton and Ellusion! Pendy

Just fantastic, Anton! And the attention to detail and research you have done is excellent! I was raised on archaeology as a child and have been familiar with Egyptian finds since I was very small. I'm glad to see a diligent replication of the clothing and accessories in your pictures in this thread! Liz Pope Dreamspinner

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 15 March 2002 at 5:07 AM

Anton, I am not an Anne Rice fan, so my biases may be obvious. Real myth is preferred to mishmash (Isis as a vampire? Yuck!) I do realize that a fake character such as Akasha will sell better than a real person such as Hatshepsut, even though the latter was a powerful queen who extended the Egyptian sphere of influence through trade and treaty... and who ruled in her own name. That said, I admire the attention to detail, and all the hard work you are putting into this collection. (Many of the pieces are recognizable from teh Tutankhamen exhibit.) I have some quibbles with her clothing: the "skirt" is too masculine, and women often had bare breasts (I do not recall ever seeing a bra such as you've made). Gauzy pleats are sexy, revealing, and accurate. The jewelry, OTOH, is wonderful. I've animated the Anubis statue (for a company which no longer exists), and you've done a great job with him, especially the neckscarf. His chest should come forward a bit more, though. Note for Daio: adh3d has an Egyptian chariot, and horse gear, modeled after a relief of Ramses IIRC: it looks good and is in the Marketplace here. (Why reinvent the wheel?) If you do the statue of Bast, I won't have to. :) (It was on my list, a friend sent me a statuette of "Bast and her children" from the British Museum.) As a long-time customer, I hope that you take these comments as constructive ones... I don't want to discourage you at all. Carolly

Daio ( ) posted Fri, 15 March 2002 at 10:02 AM

hauksdottir adh3d's chariot is for Bryce only or I would have snapped it up the moment it became available. there is not one for Poser. SO I'll reiterate my hope that Anton does one. And, yes, a bast statue would be nice too!

PheonixRising ( ) posted Fri, 15 March 2002 at 12:51 PM

hauksdottir, The project was just inspired by the book. This isn't akasha so don't worry. SHe can be whoever you want her to be. Daz will not release a topless character. Her top is a Poser concession. :)You don't have to use it. Anton

DAZ won't release a topless (and I'm sure this is a female only limitation) character? When they offer nude males with everything hanging out?!? ::shake head at the narrow-minded discrimination... again:: rant We are talking art here. I suppose there are no museums in Utah showing the statues and paintings of other cultures without covering everything in sheets and fig-leaves? A whole state full of Ashcrofts frantically covering the private parts of classic Greek statuary and painting over innumerable cupids? They ought to be glad that I'm not God in the Judaic-Christian tradition (jealous, tempermental and proud).. I'd zap with a lightning bolt anybody who thought my creation was shameful and so ugly that it needed to be hidden away from innocent eyes. ::harumph!:: /rant OK, ya gotta do what you gotta do to sell in that market... but if they are worried about the product renderings catching a viewer unawares, why not just pose a feather fan in front of her breasts? Since these were priest-kings, a sistrum would be a good prop (you know that people are going to put her in temple scenes as soon as they get her)... also board games and cosmetics as mentioned above. They took great pleasure in life, and wanted more of it. Hmm... I just got a mental image of her burning her bra-thingy in that brazier while wearing an evil grin. Carolly

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 15 March 2002 at 4:38 PM

Note to Daio, Sorry that it is just Bryce. I'd remembered the chariot as very authentically done. :(

Very nice stuff! Looks a lot like the real thing, (only brighter :) I was in Egypt last year, I knew it was new year because they turn the pyramids off at twelve :) Great place, but if you're going, make a day trip to Giza, stay near Karnak, (Luxor) on the Nile. The Hilton is good, but the Sheraton is closer to the temple. Which is bloddy amazing, you cannot begin to believe the scope and scale of this thing. Oh and the best seats for the sound and light show are top left on the "bleachers" behind the sacred lake. :) Tutankhamun's tomb is very small though, not much to see, especially in comparison to the tombs of Ramses II and others. Oh yeah, forget about riding a camel if you don't want to be saddle sore for a week :) Oh, and if you want to get into Hatshepsut's temple you need to get up at 5am! I was happy enough wandering around the outside :) All of the above is stored in the Cairo Museum, which will take you a whole day to get around at least, only take a guide book, or you'll never know what you're looking at, tens of thousands of exhibits and maybe a few hundred have labels :) I didn't go see the mummies, but the Jewelery room with Tut's Mask, etc. Was very impressive! The two renders above are damn near flawless. later jb
