Subject: Are PoserWorld Subscriptions worth it.

creativechaos ( ) posted Mon, 18 March 2002 at 11:09 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 8:55 AM

I've been contemplating over this for a while now. I'm not sure if the subscription is worth it for be because I don't have stuff like Vicki's clothing pack or the changing armor ar fantasy suit. I just don't have the money for stuff like that, but it seems like PoserWorld has a lot of stuff, both for those items and original. My quesion is, is it worth the 50 bucks for a year subscription if you DON'T have all the extras? It's just something I've been debating myself over for a while and with a few extra bucks lying around I thought maybe it would be a good investment.

Abso-frappin-lutely! There's probably more stuff there for people without all the extras. I won my subscription in a contest, but I will definately spend the money to renew it. They're great.

Sassywench ( ) posted Mon, 18 March 2002 at 11:32 PM

Totally YES!!!! About 90% of their stuff is stand-alone product... no extras needed :) Go for it... you won't be sorry!!

Wow, well Like I said, it's something I've been debating with myself over for a while, 50 bucks to a college student is a month worth of vending machine lunches ya know LOL

A brief list: New clothing items for all the milfigures New clothing items for exisitng poser figures - many more than the 30 I have dl'd Textures for all items - by Renapd more than 8 ready to render scenes incluidng rooms and streets I'd have to say that it's a wise investment, for the price of one model (example: the Adventurers outfit) you get literally hundreds of items, all made by Steve Shanks and all with Rena's textures. Who could beat that? :) Lyrra

EricTorstenson ( ) posted Mon, 18 March 2002 at 11:49 PM

Definitely. There is little out there for a better price. To make things even better, they seem to be releasing stuff more frequently and of higher quality. I am using their stuff more and more, and I have hardly scratched the surface of what is there. I can't imagine you would regret it. eric

Netherworks ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 12:09 AM

I got a 3-month subscription and I'm ready to give it another whirl. Tons of stuff there. For the price of a nice poser model or clothing set, you get a plethora of great items.

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 12:18 AM

Keep in mind, also, that the $50 gets you the content of all three of the PoserWorld CD's - and those sold for $20 EACH. Believe me, it pays for itself with just the first couple of downloads. Kate

creativechaos ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 12:43 AM

Seriously, all of the PoserWorld cd's? (Including 4 or up to 4?) Just curious, I didn't realize it included the cd content too...had to go check it out. Thanx for the tip Kate. :)

If you're a Poser fanatic (like many of us), a Poserworld subscription is one of the best investments you can make in your hobby. I can't tell you how much use I've gotten out of it, and I've barely scratched the surface of what's available. David

queri ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 1:00 AM

The scenes are Amazing!! There is Tons for Posette, including a great texture. Great variety, and it seems to be updated every couple of weeks or so. I would say the new modular Balcony plus the furniture, plus the textures, the Castle walls, the evening clothes, the jewelry-- which loaded up slicker than a whistle and rendered spectacularly-- the variety of textures [you rarely get just one]. . .I got three times the value of the year's subscription and it's not been three months yet. I'm there for life. Emily

MadYuri ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 1:05 AM

What the others said. Because of Poserworld I have a fat 7 GB Runtime directory. ;)

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 2:35 AM

PW is totally killer - I had the same quandary as you, then joined about 3 weeks ago. Just the environemtns and scenes alone are worth the 50 bucks a couple of times over. And then there's all the rest of it! :] FishNose

steveshanks ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 3:31 AM

You know seeing threads like this makes it all worth while :o) thanks folks i'm almost lost for words :o).....just a note to serpentis if i recall correctly the only section that covers 3rd party stuff is mappacks everything else you don't need extras to use, with the exception of the shirt from mikes clo pack to run the cowboy, but hes getting remake soon anyway :o).....at least thats all i can recall at the moment if anyone else remember ones i missed just shout :o).......Steve

Yes... absolutely...positively...without a doubt..undeniably!

lundqvist ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 6:53 AM

Gotta say yes, too. I go there mainly for the scenes... they're all excellent and well worth the admission fee. :)

Penguinisto ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 8:49 AM

I damned near wore out my network card the first three days I hooked up to it :) /P

Traveler ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 9:09 AM

Worth it? No question at all! The scenes, the clothes, the textures.... worth every penny and then some (and then some more on top of that!)

creativechaos ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 10:48 AM

Wow, I'm impressed for 2 reasons, I think this is the first time I've seen everybody reply with the SAME answer and how everybody has nothing but the most positive things to say. I'm going to be talking to my mom (she holds the money for I spend it WAY to fast) and getting 50 bucks ASAP. Thank you guys for ALL the wonderful comments. Sometimes with the preview pictures you just wonder if it's all custom stuff or just texture/trans stuff for what's already available. And I agree with Steve, it's threads like THIS that make the Poser community what it is. It's really great to hear everone's wonderful comments about things HUGZ TO ALL Thanx for everything folks.

i contenplated it for a long time.. just purchased a 3 month subscription this month, i'd have to say, yeah it was worth it, even if there wasn't any new content put on, i got more there for 35 dollars then i would here.

Kendra ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 12:09 PM

What are the terms of use? I didn't see a link for that but the computer I'm on today is so slow, a lot of pages don't load well. If commercial renders are allowed it looks like a good deal.

caleb68 ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 12:16 PM

yeah, basically the same rules as with buying products anywhere else, as long as the meshes/textures themselves are not being distrubuted to the public, no complaints.
