I posted this in the C4D forum, although I got some good suggestions it didnt turn out too good. So I thought I'd try here. I had a doube cut for the hood and I was going to make the hood a seperate object, but it was making things goofy so I got rid of it. And now I'm trying to figure out how to make the seam for the hood openning here. I don't care if the hood is a seperate object or not, it's just that it was the only way I kne how to get what I want. So The question is...How do I make a seam? Thanks.

And here's what I came up with in the end, and I couldn't smooth out the shape around the headlight area. Just don't look right. I did and Inner Extrude on the hood polygons, then another on the resultig polygons, and a normal extrude down just a notch. Any help? Thanks It's a Monte Carlo NASCAR BTW.

One more thing BTW. I alredy made the top and the windshield, so if I make new cuts it might make things goofy. This pic is just a little outdated, but the front end is still the same. It's my 2nd attempt at a car, I got stuck on the first thats in my gallery, but the same techniqes for the hood don't seem to work here. I used a tutorial last time. I'm all on my own here. Thanks.

i think your best bet is to do it with your tex map unlesss your wanting to make it llik realy gaping and deep in most car pics i see its a subtle difrence id make a bump for it and then use spec maps to reflect what would be the edges i have a tool in lw but not sure what it would be called in your app that would work to put a crease around ther good luck

Thanks. I was thinking of going with a bump. Gonna have to learn texturing sooner or later. Specially if I want to finish this project.

You may find it much easier to use a more modular method of creating this object.

Not to sound like an idiot, but...What do you mean?

I think wha he meant by modular was to build the car in pieces. Hood, bumper, doors, etc. Not just windows, body, and tires. That might give you better control of the shapes.

Oh....That's what I'm doing except for the hood. It's a Stock Car so there's only the dood and windows really. I'm way past that point though. Check out my gallery. Thanks
