Subject: File paths in MAT files

When ever open an existing MAT file, the file paths for the texture maps all use a ":" as a path divider. When I save a character and open it, the divider is the usual DOS "" character. Is it necessary to replace each "" with a ":"? Also, does Poser allow for spaces in the path or file names? I ask this because I've been trying to make MAT files for the DAZ Combat Map Pak and there are spaces in the default names and folders and I have been having problems.

The ":" is a MAC version of a PCs "". PCs read both fine so its your choice really. MACs need it to be ":" I believe. Spaces definitely are allowed, they work on all my stuff. The whole path should be in ":Runtime:textures:...etc", I think they`re called parentheses. Keep trying B) Mark

Ok, thanks.

It is actually better to remove the path all together, I always make my paths just ":texturename" Poser will automatically search the textures directory for it.

Even better. Thanks guys.

Apparently Poser will search the texture directory regardless of what the path says. I opened an existing clothing MAT file to compare it to one I was trying to make and was having trouble with. I was shocked to see a full cProgram Filesetc. path reference. My poser isn't even on my C drive, its on my D drive. Yet that MAT pose works just fine despite the full path to a non-existant directory. I bet it goes slower than having the right info in there, but at least I now know that Poser can still find textures even if the paths are messed up. Too bad Geometry references aren't that fault tolerant.

I'm pretty sure cleaning up some old MATT files (by putting the correct directory path) sped up the load process for me. I stick with the :runtime:blahblah even though I use windows, since that is the way most of the stuff that came with poser read. eric
