Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
You somewhat too often use V2P4. V2 is better.... That is my opinion. (and now fire free, I look for cover) ;-) Mazak
Mazak... I love Vickie textures and high polygon face.. BUT.. I'm no so crazy about her body! LOL So, V2p4 is the best compromise of both worlds for me.. not to mention that the wardrobe for her.. is just ENDLESS! LOL Now you can come safely out of cover.. VL grin Rena

Somebody calls my name.... ;-) Of course you use the V2P4 as compromise... but what is when poser5 come out? And Posette goes to Poserheaven....? Vicky is the better figure, and more versatile. Mazak
Ja but I see the DAZ productline Vicky, Vicky 2, Stephanie... and when Vicky 3 come out ,with a more hires 3D mesh, and all can wear (new and old) Vicktoria clothes. Have you ever ask your members how often they use Posette or Vicky? (I am new at pwfw). Mazak
like i said evertime we concentrate on one we get loads of emails asking why we neglect the other, so what we try to do now is go 50 50 on both, our thinking is if you have vikki2 you can use both types so they do get the better deal anyway......as for asking i think theres no need as the emails tell us folks want both, but even if the majority wanted vikki stuff there is still folks that want p4 stuff, then what happens is somebody says hey i want stuff for V2P4....do you see where i'm going Mazak :o)..btw the last update was all millenium figure stuff :o)....Steve
Mazak.. if anything more high res than Vickie2 comes out soon... it will only be for face renders ... Poser could hardly handle that along with props, clothing etc in jsut one scene! LOL BTW... let me remind you of how still old Poser3 clothig is still used successfully... so nothing is ever put away sooo fast and easily as you think... at least if you have a creative mind! :o) Rena

I truly understand the dilemma between posette using folks and vicky (in my case, Steph) using folks. I like something in every update, especially the hair models, which I usually have to fool a bit with to get it to look good on vic/steph. Anyways, my problem is that I like to optimize one model (with self-made skin maps, eye maps and so forth), so its hard to switch back and forth between p4 and millenium items. It would be nice to have some more up-to-date programs to move things semi-seamlessly between figures. I bought the Tailor and also use Morphmaster. MorphManager is one of my favorites, but I wish it would work on props and hair (why not?). Well, that was all off topic to an extent... maybe I can figure out how to lop off stephanie's head and put it on posette's body.
.
well i must say (though nobody asked me ;)) i don't use p4 any more since i have vicky. neither i use v2p4 for the same reasons. most new clothes (if not ALL) are produced for v2 so i'm with mazak on this one. i'd like to have those things above but only for v2, so i'll guess i'll pass on this one :( is it that complicated to produce two version of clothes? i know only basics about it, lol, so maybe you can explain it?
The sizing and grouping is totally different aleks.. not to mention that two versions of templates would have to be made as well or else everything would stretch a lot more on Millenium stuff and less on P4 due to the rescaling! :o) I guess I'm one of the few around here who like women ..well.. to look more women on the hip and legs area than Vickie... LOL Rena

unless its baggy and shapeless yep your as quick starting from scratch if you need two version....we do realise that some want vikki stuff over possette BUT we do realise some don't, so as i said we compromise to try and keep ALL the members happy, which really is impossible all the time but we hope we manage most of the time :o).....i see what your saying about all new clothes being for vikki BUT is that because theres more money to be made from vikki stuff and IS there a lot of pissed off possette fans wishing there was more p4 stuff :o)........Steve
aleks.. not everybody has Tailor... but from what I've heard, it is mainly used so users on their own can create those morphs they wish! :o) At least that's what I've seen from other posts.. so why should WE make those morphs on our clothing? :o) I also recall from another thread -between steve and some other member- that millenium figures show up some error lines during the process that can be fixed though by editing the cr2 or something... so thumbs up once again for good old posette! ROFLMAO Rena

well more of a keeping an eye on the poly count than putting it up, if you have to high a poly count it can effect how well the item poses, the more polygons we have the sharper a crease will be in the bend area also to many polygons can make a messy tailor morph if you need to reduce the size of the mesh (smaller breast morph).....anyway the short version is we'll try and optimise them so they'll work well in tailor and all the new ones are tested in it for errors before the cr2 is released.......Steve
I was hoping clothing makers would add vicky and mike 2 morphs to their clothes (rather than expect users to purchase the program). Those additional morphs make them more desireable for those short on cash) I have a long list of wishes, and while tailor is sounding better all the time, I would rather buy clothes and models rather than tools (since I can always use magnets to work around the stuff that I do myself.) just my opinion. Also, regarding the millinium p4s, I think they are great. Unless you are doing a scene with only one or two people, you really can't afford a bunch of V2s and M2s (unless you have a brand new machine to work on). Once you put clothes on a figure, the clothes mesh is more important than the underlying body, unless it is a transparent garment. But the face is almost always visible. eric
I really like V2P4 :) Many times she has saved me from having to hack different items of clothing together, and there are a lot of beautiful items & armor etc...out there for Posette that have never been converted to Vicky....I think it's the best of both worlds :) I'm just glad I have the choice! Variety is the spice of life :) Pendy
Rena, I got Vickie and this suits me just fine. I loved Aisha-- my first excursion into V2P4 and she looked just as agile if not more so than Vickie. Easy to pose and beautiful to render. I don't see a problem. And, yes! Tatiana Rocks in just about any hairstyle-- I especially like AprilYSH's spirals!! These look great! Emily
So majority agrees I guess that we are darn lucky to have such a huge choice of versatility and figures to choose from! :o) Eric.. if we were adding all possible morphs to each new clothing figure (using Tailor) it would mean TWO extra things besides what steve mentioned.. More time for him on each model - thus LESS items for you to download.. More time for me on uploading each zip and making the previews (as I'd have to show all morphs as well) - thus LESS frequent updates! Well.. I don't think I need to run a pole on finding out what the outcome of the majority's vote is on such a dilemma! LOL Rena

Great textures, Rena. Don't forget, anyone who likes the Shania suit can get a free low-key texture for it at my web site. ;)Actually, Rena, I wasn't really directing my disappointment at you guys, just venting 8~) I consider your contributions to be better than i expected as it is. I was thinking more specifically for the one-off items that I have purchased (from various places, and I just tossed it out here because the thread was moving in that direction). I really didn't expect that you could go back through all of those clothing items and add morphs (that would be quite a task, I have to visit your site just to remember what all I have from you) eric
