Has anyone come across high quality building models and textures? I'm doing a king kong series and am looking for buildings that look good at close distances (many of the 3ds and obj buildings are pretty crude) thanks for any pointers...

If you have Lightwave, Moebius posted a whole free futuristic city with textures and it's gorgeous. It doesn't look extremely other worldly and would work.

These are all pretty good, but from what I can tell, they are in a proprietary format that I can't figure out how to convert so I can use them in Vue or Poser. If anyone knows, please tell!

Awesome site. I thought Poser read 3dmf files. In any case, if you get a copy of 3dexplorer it will convert for you.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. I hadn't noticed that before. Cool, now I have even less time for real life!!! 8-)

8-( Oh well, Poser won't import the file. I'll have to try 3dexplorer.

3d cafe has a lot of skycrapers in their free stuff area. Most are in 3ds format.

I've been working on this building kit, which is intended for Victorian syle architecture. The building in the centre (with two walls only)is 11MB as an obj, and is composed of modules such as those at left and right. All the modules share a common texture mapping, which is a major improvement over my original building kit (anyone remember that?) and changing textures for a complete building is really simple. I have made a few textures, two shown here, and about twenty wall sections with various windows doors etc. All wall sections have morphs so that various elements can be hidden. There is no limit to how high, or wide a building can be. There is still a lot of work left to be done. I am also considering making Canoma versions of some complete buildings, which would be fine for distant structures. Cheers Ian
