Subject: Keeping morphs in place when using stored expressions

I have the Mike expressions pack that I bought at DAZ some time ago. My problem is that when I use these expressions the character face I have setup of my character changes to the one from the stored expression. How can I keep my morphs in place?

I don't know that pack, but you can try loading one on a figure, then resave it (with a new name so you don't overwrite the original). As I recall there's a button that says Subset or something similar, that pops up a hierarchy type list. You can include the expression dials and exclude the face shaping ones, then save. The new file should just reset the expressions on your character, leaving the face feature settings alone (unless the expressions pack files use some of the feature dials to make the expression). You can take a look at the files in a text editor (WordPad, BBEditLight) to see. Sounds like the creator might have put all the dials in the file, with the non-expression morph dials set to zero. You could also set up your character and spawn a new morph dial, set it at one and all the others to zero, then apply the expression files. HTH

1). The expressions should never have been released if they included channels that are not expressions. You can fix your copies. Use MM4 and save a version of Mike that has all head morphs deleted but the expression morphs. Apply your defective expression poses to this and save the expression back to the Library. The save function in the pose and face Libraries allow you to deselect morphs from what you save, but if you have more than one expression, the work done to deselect as about that required to delete the morphs for an expression only figure.

As usual, Professor Jaager has a better way ;-) You should also complain to DAZ and see if there's a free update to the product available.

Yeah, I think I have seen that sort of thing before. I save all of my characters as faces, check 'em in a text editor (you can use MM for that if you prefer) to insure no expression stuff is saved. This file can be used to always restore the characteristics of the face. It is especially useful if you are using stuff you get from the free stuff. Of course, jaagers way is the best solution in the long run. I also agree that you should complain the DAZ. That should be caught during testing. eric

morph manager 4 (pc program) search freestuff here on utilities and you should be able to find it. There is a MAC program that offers the same stuff, but I'm not sure what it is called. eric
