I have been searching the Internet for lace examples to use in my clothing. I see so many nice clean examples on artist?s apparel here at rendersity. Does any one have any idea where the best resources are located?

If I remember correctly I do belive EaglesGift (some really nice lace) says they scan their own and I think PoserFasions is a dress designer. Where common folk like us would turn? Try www.dogpile.com or www.google.com ??

I have found lingerie sites that have nice examples but are usually to small to gather any detail from. I have been doing searches for suppliers and manufactures hoping they would have larger samples on their sites that they would perhaps be selling whole sale. Show Examples in order to help me create my own textures. I have not come across any such site as of yet. Eglesgift by the way, at this moment, only has a number of lighting presets to download, but thanks anyway. I could go to the local fabric store and buy some lace and scan it, but I live in a very small town... perhaps this is not cool thing to do. lol :-) If any one can help me on how they go about creating their own or know of sewing patteren books, order catalogs,etc it would be great help.

If you want to create your own, a good place to start is in Photoshop with the stained glass filter, it'll need a little tweaking, but it makes an excellent netting for lace...once you have the netting, add clip art and or dingbat type fonts...

Ahh... a very wonderful idea. Then one would be able also to take any pattern or photo - turn it to grayscale, put up the contrast(or turn it to clip art), and paste onto the netting and finally create a B/W tiled surface. One could even create a pattern in program like PatternMaker, then turn it to clip art and place the pattern onto a larger canvas of netting. Very Ingenious! oh yeah, and macmullin, what is PatternMaker? I haven't heard of that before...sounds quite useful.

I will add my two pennyworth to that, thankyou Dmentia, never thought of that, I have been busy scanning in some lace bits, but will try this as well. BTW over at 3dcommune there are a couple of packs of lace tetures, with bump and trans maps, from a couple called hexagonal mandala. Lovely lace, well worth the money.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Serpentis about Pattern Maker. I found this free toy about a year ago and I have been spending all day trying to locate it and get you the address - but no luck!. Perhaps you will be able to find it Pattern Maker V2.04 by Stallings and Stallings. This thing is cool, it will bring in an image(s)and make patterns similar to wall paper bolts or of cloth - make all your rotations on 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 , 3/4, mirror, turns, spacing, groupings, tiles, you name it etc. The Example above is by using one image - as you see in the screen capture of the interface. I will try to locate it again and get in touch with you.

I have found the Pattern Maker program download on my server finally. I read the readme.txt file to see if there was an URL where you one could down load the program if they wanted too. All that was available was this guys email address. john@wedart.com
