Gee... my computer have been acting up lately; and since I'm with the bestest computer wiz I know when it comes to opearting systems; this hit without warning. My computer started to act up a week ago; and refused to start MS IE; and then it announced that my Outlook Express wasn't a valid 32 bit application. Well, duh! Since I'm a VERY careful person; and I never open any E-mail attachments (even from persons I know); I've not been hit by any viruses; till now. OK; so I've got Poser mania. I've downloaded several things. To be honest; I don'nt remember all the things. BUT I finally decided to engage my virus scanner; and there it was. I've got a Troyan called "Weird". The files that I've uploaded are safe; I think. But I haven't managed to check them yet. In fact; this message is the first thing that I'm doing online since John finally was able to restore my Windows. I'll have to re-install most (if not all) of my software, ICQ was fried (for those of you who have me on your addy list); Poser was fried; and I just tried to start Photoshop... (who announced that it's not a 32 bit application!!) Like I said; I think that all the freebies are safe; but just to be sure; do a virus check.... OK?? See y'all (ugh... still practicing my Southern drawl) on the flip side! Britt

you should use realtime protection, like norton or something, i've come across weird quite a few times but norton always manages to catch it , thank goodness! Soory to hear about your troubles, tell your PC to 'Get well soon!'

After I finally got my windows restored, - so that I could start up again; i'm faced with a lot of work! And not of the fun kind! I got outlook back up by updating IE to 6.0 (I have refused to do so, because I never trust the dot.cero versions; and I've been lucky so far) BUT this "weird" virus apparently turned some of my programs to "unredable" for windows (running 2000), and they reported that they weren't window 32-bit programs (sorry webvogel; my ftp program was one of them; I'll upload your flowers when the programs are set straight!) Now; all the programs that DID work; Poser, Adobe Photoshop, Corel etc. report that they're not windows 32 bit programs. :( Have anyone had this problem?? And is there an "easy" way to solve it?? My brain is fried too. And It went on strike around 9 this evening, telling me it refuses to think anymore. lol ANY help is appreciated!! Britt

detailed instructions for ridding your machine of the virus arer listed here... http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.weird.html Just getting Windows "going again" won't do it. With the way Weird screws around with the Wininnit & explorer files some vestigal remnant of the virus could be what is causing the problem

Hi Britt, Thank you for this very troubleing message. This makes me angry too. It`s always very frustrating to see that humankind is the most violent species on this planet, not alone in the real world, even in the wonderful freedom of this parallelworld, called Worldwideweb. In a forest the wolf has his place to uphold balance but this people are a disease wich has to be cured...(. not to say harder words) I feel sorry for all people who have spared their money for long time to get their stystems running, later falling into the destructive trapps of this people without any moral or ethics. I do not know if this is the wrong place for my thoughts but it has to be said. Greetings, Webbird

I'm very sorry that you have this problem, Britt. I hope you'll be able to get things running smoothly soon. I agree with you, webvogel. I just can't understand how someone can deliberately cause so much misery to so many people! I always have Norton running and before I open any download, I always do a virus check. I have received infected e-mails which Norton immediately caught, but so far I have not found any infected downloads. (Thankfully!)
