It really needs a UFO man. This shot is SCREAMING for a UFO in the background. Why the hell didn't you wait for a UFO to come? Photographers are supposed to be patient for the right moment. The right moment would've been if there was a ufo in the background. You call yourself a photographer? No one will say it here, but I gaurantee you we all think you should've waited for a UFO to fly by. I can't stress how much this shot needs a UFO! But I GUUUEEESSSSS this is a nice shot on its own, I mean, she is insanely cute.... woulda been better if there was a UFO though.
Great capture, so happy & full of life. That stone looks like a plug you could pull out & the sea would drain away! or maybe that's the ufo...

While this portrait is one of the most likable that I've
seen in a very long time, I must confess that I agree
with Slynky's view on the composition. Only a UFO
could have provided the balance and sense of scale needed
by this adorable portrait. But not just any UFO. I
think the best type of UFO for this scene would've been the
cigar-shaped variety, metalic in color but not chromed.
Something closer to buffed aluminum or brushed stainless
steel. Flashing lights would be right out for this type
of scene.
Better luck next time!
P.S. That's a perfectly precious image of a happy kid.
Reminds me of my most excellent niece when she was that age.
You people! Thanks all for your comments (So funny! good post work Brian!) Slynky you are craaaaazy - but then again so am I! I agree with ASalina, it should be a cigar-shaped metallic one, those flying-hubcap or christmas-decoration types with all the flashing coloured lights (a la "Close Encounters") are so cliched! Oh, Rebecca says she wants Dolphins! :-)>
Cool! I'm sure Rebecca will love that.

Now, the picture looks like this to me: you're trying to shoot the sea, the shore, and the little dark stone on the sand using the rule of thirds so far so good; then, dear Rebecca makes a joke and interferes with her dad's aim jumping suddenly to the front of the camera with a sweetly vicious and self-confident smile... The off-centered nature of the composition, the movement of her hair all tell me these things, and I think that this is a very nice candid portrait... BTW, PhrankPower's comment made me laugh so much, the one starting with "10 years from now...". Regards to you all... :-)
Thanks Alpha! Coming from you that means a lot...(does that mean one day I may even get in POTW??) cheeky grin I loved the way Rebecca's hair flew out like that specially for the camera, and her sweet smile...I am very blessed (even with the future headaches looming);-)> Misha, the Dolphins are beautiful! Rebecca says thankyou! :-)> :-)> :-)>
