Subject: Making Poser models "Mimic -ready":

Hob ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2000 at 7:22 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 11:44 PM

O.K. gurus, how do I do this? How do I make and/or transfer the morphs necessary for Mimic to work with Poser models that don't already have these morphs, (i.e.: the Zygote models, etc.)? And for models that don't have "lips", (like the skeleton), how do I convert them? And finally, for the creatures that I completely make the meshes for, How should I convert them??? I'm soory for throwing it all at you at once. But, I'm eager to push the limits.

For models that are not MIMIC ready, you need to make six new morph targets for the mouth area of the face. These are: OpenLips Mouth O Mouth M Mouth F Tongue L Tongue T Once these are modeled and applied to the head of the character, creature, monster, etc, is ready for use in MIMIC. Use a standard Poser character with these morphs set to max as a referance for doing the targets on another character.

O.K., I already understand that much. But, I'm still at a loss as to HOW to do it. That's the question of this post.

You model then in a 3d program same as any other morph target. Apply them to the head just like your adding any other morph target, and when they are applied, the targets will respond to any MIMIC pose file you already have created. All you need is the correct target names for the mouth positions, MIMIC doens't care what the character looks like only that the targets are there for it to manipulate. Hope this explains it a little better.
