Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 02 10:01 am)
no, you're fine. Those dash lines indicate a transparency map in operation, something that cuts off part of the texture map to create... well, "hairness" on the edges. Anytime you apply a transparency to anything, whether hair or something else, and regardless of how much is actually blocked off, the whole thing converts to dashed lines.
Wow, you guys are fast Now that you mention it, the canned hair that comes with Poser doesn't have any transparent spots (hmmm) The Smooth Shaded Lined display mode does make it reasonably visibly. Thanx for the tip I've also noticed that it doesn't render when creating an AVI either. I assume that part of the quirk?
I have had a problem with transparency using hair. I am using the Morgan LeFey hair and set the top layer to 0 transparency to pose it properly then return it to 100% trans as it was before and when rendered there is no hair at all, she be bald! This dosen't happen all the time just on ocasions and resetting everything texture and transp wise doen't help.

The hair types that came with Poser all render in the Poser environment fine, but hair that I've purchased, such as "Total Hair", wben placed on a figure, displays as faint dotted lines. If I render it to an image, the hair is visible, but it's very difficult to morph and work with it in Poser when I can't see it. I'm pretty new to Poser, so it's probably something that I don't have set up correctly. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanx - Tony
