Subject: Time To Vote for the Modeling Forum Banner Contest!

MikeJ ( ) posted Sun, 14 April 2002 at 11:01 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 12:51 AM

Time To Vote for the Modeling Forum Banner Contest. Anyone may vote, whether you entered or not. The winner gets his or her banner displayed prominently at the top of this forum's page. All voting will be done in THIS thread. When you vote, feel free to comment on why you voted that way, if you wish, but please announce your choice first. It will make it easier to count the votes if your selection is at the beginning. I have made up a page containing all of the entries. To see them, CLICK HERE. There were 19 of them. All of them are very good. :) However, I didn't want to reduce the quality of the entries with further compression, since that's what you're voting on, so the page is fairly large...around 400 KB. Please allow them all to load and look them all over before deciding. The user name of the entrant is immediately to the lower right of each banner. When you vote, please state the user name. The banners themselves have no titles. Some people submitted more than one, so if you are voting for one with a (1st) or (2nd) after the name, please specify that in addition to the user name. If you have any questions, my name is up top after "Contest Manager", and clicking on that will open up an Instant Messaging box to send me an IM. So, tell all your friends here about this, and let's see how many votes we can get! It is the Renderosity members who are making the decision on this...no mods or staff. :) I will be a link to this in some of the other forums, as well. To those of you who entered, thank you very much. I was surprised we got so many, in such a short period of time. The voting will begin NOW, and will end at 12:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, CST.

Entropic ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 1:02 AM

My vote is for DarkSkills ( 1st ) because the coffee cup is the closest thing to a Teapot. In fact, I'm surprised none of the modellers actually included one. Paul P.S.: The image looks pretty damn cool, too. *8^>

MissTara ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 1:19 AM

I am partial to dethblud's entry. I like the two different types of spheres.

dolly ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 1:59 AM

Hey all I go for sams one as it is simple in design and to the point ie the building tools cheers dolly

audre ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 2:51 AM

jgeorge ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 4:32 AM

Cinema1954, (the screw), Because is gives the idea of a deep tridimenisional space but the writing is very clear and readable.

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 4:36 AM

A QUESTION: I don't understand why you all say cinema1954 1st entry??? I only have seen the one for what I voted (the screw)? Guitta

magicpixel ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 4:42 AM

retrocity (2nd) Caught my eye, has the "Renderosity main banner" look. :) Tough one, so many really good entries!

cambert ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 4:46 AM

Cinema1954 does it for me (in the modelling sense, of course ;)

SAMS3D ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 4:48 AM

I would love to vote for mine, BUT, I think Cinema1954 is the best. All of them are really great though. Sharen MY VOTE Cinema1954

zardoz ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 5:12 AM

Really hard to vote 'cause all the entries are great. But as I have to choose only one, I'll vote for... ..Cinema1954 cheers Thomas

Jilly ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 5:16 AM

I like retrocity [2nd]

Modulok ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 5:36 AM

Cinema1954 Good entries everyone!! I voted for cinema just because of the irony that is present in his pic with the bolts. Bolts > construction > modeling :) Nice job everyone!! Laterz -Modulok-

Imamik ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 7:36 AM

Of course i would like to vote for my own, but i'll take andrelee(2nd) because i like it best and it's way better than mine.

dethblud ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 8:27 AM

Rani ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 9:13 AM

wow, tough choice, i realy like the simpltsity of gidde but it's not so related to "modelling" so i ahve to vote for retrocity (2nd).

Cinema1954 ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 9:27 AM

andrelee (2nd). Great color...

retrocity (2nd) I like a lot the Cinema1954 banner too.

cinema1954.. It embodies 3D and modelling.. :)

t3 ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 11:47 AM

heyse...

tom271 ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 1:13 PM

dethblud...... It was a hard choice.... andrelee had a nicer layout but the skeleton xray effect made it too much science oriented and this forum is more artistically technical.. my view..

cooler ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 4:21 PM

as soon as I saw it, Cinema1954's entry caught my eye. It's well composed, and has just the sort of '3D' look that will perfectly represent a 3D modelling forum. The highest compliment I can think of is... 'I wish I'd thought of it first :-)

petrik ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 3:10 AM

Cinema1954 comes first (The screw) with andrelee (2nd entry) coming a very close second. I just find the lens flare a little too bright.

Biped ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 7:49 AM

andrelee 2nd image

Moebius87 ( ) posted Fri, 19 April 2002 at 12:53 AM

Cinema1954 - which is actually "a bolt and hex nut with washer" image :o)

You are so right. Just being a sheep and following the majority of the forum by calling it a screw. :-)

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 6:50 AM

Cool! And we have a winner..... Looks like Cinema1954 won in a landslide with 19 votes. To sum it up: Cinema1954: 19 dethblud: 4 retrocity (2nd): 4 andreleee (2nd): 2 heyse: 2 DarkSkills: (1st) 1 cooler: 1 SAMS3D: 1 So, Cinema1954's banner will be gracing the top of this page. It really is a great looking banner, and definitely does follow the theme of a modeling forum well. :)
