Okay. I started flipping through my CDs, found a new one I'd bought back in March. So, I decided I'd give my favorite person in the universe a shot in poser. I'm not saying who it is, because, hopefully, you won't have to guess.

Macy Gray?

6Dprime ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 10:02 PM

I know I'm the only person on Earth with this problem, but I don't recognize anything through a fish-eye lens. Do you mind setting your focal length to 105mm (portrait standard)?

queri ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 10:07 PM

6Dprime-- You are most certainly not the only person on Earth with this problem. Emily

Thank God! Most of my questions start out with... Is it me, or... And it usually is me! :) I'm not alone this time! (whew!)

Actually, looking at 105, it's rather distorted as well, only on the opposite end of the spectrum. I've found that anywhere between 35 and 70 looks good, but for her, I've used 55...

Is she Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child?

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 10:48 PM

No, but that's a lot better than Macy Gray. We didn't hear anything about/from said artist for the past... three years or so, but she's released a new CD in March, and has gotten what I'd consider a pretty new look. I based the morph off the picture from the front of the CD...

Looks somewhat like... Toni Braxton?

Skygirl ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 1:54 AM

Donna Summer ?

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 2:07 AM

If 105 looks distorted, then it IS distorted. 55mm is still close for portrait, 105 or thereabouts is a lot more like reality, like our eyes function. If your model looks odd at 105, you probably need to change it.... As to who it is.... I'm hopeless without any hair on her, but she is absolutely gorgeous! :] FishNose

No idea, but presumably it's some pop singer.

Jazzmin ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 2:43 AM

Dang she looks familiar but I can't think of her name... she looks like an actress/singer I've seen on TV. Hmmm, the mystery continues ;)

Brandi?

Halle Berry? She is beautiful whoever she is. JDexter

I go with Halle Berry also. Trying to put hair on and can almost see her.

rasputina ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 8:22 AM

picturing with hair I've gotta believe that this is Brandy

macmullin ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 8:34 AM

In regard to portrait focal lengths they are between 70 and 90 on most large format cameras. The human eye sees at about 46 and standard camera lens is 50. The thing to note is are the focal lengths in poser accurate?

Alleycat169 ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 9:22 AM

I use an 85mm lens setting for the face camera. I don't know where you got 105mm as portrait standard. I've been a photographer for over 30 years and I would use (in 35mm format) an 85mm or a 135mm. The higher the focal length, the more it flattens out the face. Poser's default is at 25mm, which is almost "fish eye". Meaning it causes maximum distortion. Even the main camera setting is too low at 38mm, it should be set at 50 or 55mm for best results. As for the face, I'm guessing Toni Braxton, but I'd have to see her boobs to be sure. ;-)

A normal lens typically has an angle of coverage of about 50 to 55 degrees and is roughly comparable to the useful or working angle of coverage of human vision (the peripheral vision areas serving mostly as a motion detection system). ---------------------------------------------------------- Lens choice for portraiture A short telephoto lens captures a subjects' head and shoulders in pleasing, natural-looking proportions. FOCAL LENGTH A lens that is approximately twice the focal length of the cameras normal lens generally provides flattering perspective for portraits. For 35 mm cameras, this is a short telephoto lens with a focal length in the range of 85 mm to 135 mm ---------------------------------------------------

I agree with cookienose. Brandi is the only person that comes to mind when I look at her.

wipe ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 1:48 PM

I thought it was Mya(Mia)? Can't think of her surname. Am I right? Huh, Am I? Do I win anything?

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 3:01 PM

laughs Well, a lot of you guessed right. It is Brandy. I'm glad some of you got it right, but I can see where you get Toni Braxton. Just... not really Mya, so much. Once I find a hairstyle I like on her, I'll probably give a shot at a portrait or two... And then I dunno what I'll do with her. Intend to do some more tweaking on the morph tonight to get the face looking a little more like hers... Thanks for all the feedback! ^_____^

Khrys - I know what you could do with that Brandi face :o] you could give it away in Freestuff! It'd be very popular, I can assure you. :] FishNose

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 6:11 AM

Hm. Maybe. I meant to tell you all, the texture is the lovely Rhonda's texture from freestuff... If I can find a spot to host it in, I probably will give her away. ^^
