Well this is just the start of the castle and me playing with the lighting. After a while I am going to add an enemy camp to the background with lots of camp fires and things of the sort. I am open to suggestions and input or what not. Expecially what I should be doing with the lighting.

First thing I would do is DECREASE the size of the image!! (if possible) 215KB is pretty big, don't you think? I must say that I like how the foreground is bright and gradually because unpleasantly dark in the background. But what is puzzling me is where the light is coming from? Heaven? If the castle is the main focus of the image, I guess the lighting is perfect, but if not, maybe you would want to do something about that. If you are having burned down camps in the backgroud, then I think you should leave them dark, with little light. And I am also curious why there is a fountain in the middle of the castle. Is it a happy castle with a dolphin fountain, flowers blossuming all over, and armored nights frolicing around, or is it suppose to be a war castle? I'm just playin around, Tempest. I think it is a great image and good job on the castle (all in Bryce? Impressive). Maybe a few lightning flashed in the far distance along the horizon would be interesting. -Adam

Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, the dolphin thing must go, but I have to put something in there otherwise it will look far to blank. Secondly, the camp is to be currently occupied by the invading armie so I picture hundreds of lights dotting the background but who knows. As for the castle, it is all bryce. Thanks for the input Tempest

HAHA, I think little lights would be great. How about a small tower in the middle? I think that would look better.

shouldn't there be like, little houses and workshops and stuff inside the castle? At least a blacksmith would ne there, and some wagons and junk. Doesn't it need to be darker, so all you can see are the fires? Otherwise yer gonna have to put a lot of little figures and tents and horses and stuff. A nice lightning bolt would be good too. And I still wish someone would tell me how to post a pic to the forum. I can't figure it out.

I like the castle, but you do need something inside the walls.. Usually there was an inner keep, as well as several smaller buildings, such as bonestructure's blacksmith, etc. Umm.. you might want to make some objects such as torches/lamps/etc. to explain where the light is coming from, and campfires in the distance would look nice. Lightning's not really necessary, especially if it's not raining, but perhaps a full moon with cloudless, starlit skies would be interesting. It's a good start.. especially making that whole castle in bryce.. I tried that once and it looked horrible. That's why I do my modeling in 3ds now.. Rosh p.s. Bonestructure, on a new forum topic, it's got an upload thing. If you wanna post a pic in the middle of a forum topic, you have to upload it to your own web page and to an html img tag to it.

I was thinking I would make the picture bigger, you dimensions wise so as that I could make the castle bigger without it having to be farther away. And what is wrong with you people anyway, the light is coming from the torch in each of the towers, are ya all blind ;) Thanks for the inout and kind comments Tempest

I see now.. Umm.. you may wish to change the colors of the light to orange, yellow, or reddish to show that the light comes from a fire... Increasing dimensions may work, or you might just make the castle bigger and only show part of it... as if the viewer were standing on the near wall or something.. it'd be an interesting effect. Just an idea. Rosh
