You locked the post below and said that this wasn't the place to discuss it. Well, I have no horses in this particular race, but if this issue is going to end up with VS either editing his work or facing legal ramifications, then where exactly do we discuss this? Obviously it is something that needs to be clarified. There are lots of people on either side of this issue that would like to be informed about what we can and cannot do as artists.

We created OT forum for this kind of thing. But to be honest. If people are being forced to do anything here. Then we'd rather you come to one of the admins. here and tell us whats going on. Sometimes posting to the public only complicates things and makes a resolution harder to obtain. ScottA

Gotcha. Honestly I hadn't thought of that. I've always thought of the OT forum as a place to talk about the NBA playoffs or the latest Sandra Bullock flick. Since this issue was regarding a Poser image, I had assumed it would belong in the Poser forum. But I digress. :)

It is. And to tell you the truth. I hate dumping problem discussions into the OT forum and onto other mods. But they gota go someplace. If you really gotta talk about something. That's the only place to do it here. Just try to be as civil with eachother as possible. :-) ScottA

I would have moved it to OT. But there was some really ugly words in that thread. And it wasn't appropriet for that forum either. It was best that I lock it, and allow everyone to cool off a bit. ScottA

Quite frankly Scott I think the appropriate thing to do with Anton's original thread is delete it entirely. Not because of what's said in it, but because the subject line repeats an offensive hateful slur 30 times on the forums (with every post). If it was the "N-Word", I bet it would have been taken out right away.

I thought about deleting it. But whenever we do that. People start rumours that we are covering things up. Technically I should have given out some warnings due the things that were said. But I prefer to cut people a little slack when they are in an emmotional state. Locking it was another way of protecting them from saying anything else that could have gotten them into deeper trouble. My main concern is always to protect you folks first. ScottA

Scifiguy, The word "faggot" is not improper in itself... but must be taken in context. It is a fine old word meaning twig or branch... as opposed to "log" which is heavier and trimmed. Old ballads and stories will describe peasants gathering faggots in the forest, when all they are doing is collecting kindling. British slang added fag as a synonym for cigarettes because of their skinniness as compared to cigars. I suspect that leaness may be behind its latest meaning, too. Those of us who fought for equal rights regard "girl" as an insult when applied to a mature woman. However, if we banned all words which may be taken and abused, we'd be impoverished... and quite possibly reduced to grunts and hand gestures. Carolly

Ack! Stop right there please. Carolly, I love to shoot the breeze with you folks. But this is exactly the kind of message that forces me to move threads. People come in here to read about Poser. And they see us talking about the word Faggot. Then everyone jumps in and gives their opinion. And before you know it. People start calling eachother names. And WWIII breaks out. ;-) The people who come here to learn about poser stuff are pissed that we are cluttering up the forum with unrelated stuff. So lets just quietly back away from this discussion.
