Hi Bloodsong, I really getting mad about posting through this box. I just spend the last fifteen to twenty minutes composing and typing a 'tutorial' to you and after hitting the reply button, it send me to the "Welcome" page. Getting back here, I did not see my post:( I find this reply box very unreliable! I am out of steam and time to go all over again. I will have to do it again much later. If you see it anywhere (the post to your reply), let me know. Bill

Hi Bloodsong, I got tire of tying and cook up a 'tutorial'. Many of the layers and components has been taken off for quick rendering as show sample. Its in new message in Vue. Hope the image turn up alright though. Bill

renderosity seems to have some sort of time limit for inactivity. If you let it sit too long it always takes you back to the Welcome Page SMT

Thanks a lot for the info, SMT :)... Now I know. Btw, do you know where those 'disappearing' post goes to in cyberspace? Is there a "lost & found" and the moderator would put them where they suppose to be? :) ..neat, isn't it? Bill

smallspace ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 2:43 AM

Nope. Never posted. BUT...I always copy my messege to my clipboard before I hit the reply button just in case...

Sheeee!!!...now you tell me. I just lost another long post in another thread to Sliverbranch. This thing smells :( Bill

picnic ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 8:31 AM

tdesign, copy and paste your message just in case it is too long--then you can come back and paste it in more than one box. There is a 'size' limit on the forum's 'boxes'. Your best bet is to type for awhile (not too long), hit reply and continue--just use more 'boxes' and you won't lose your reply. In other words, just divide your post up into several boxes and people will see all of it but numbered 1,2,3,etc. Hope you follow this. Diane B

tesign ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 10:08 AM

Thanks for the tip Diane. You are right about typing too long somtime...may not be the text, but too much time thinking how to composed :) Okay, I keep it in mind...serveral boxes. Yes, I been prompt before that the limit of characters allow is only 2K. Bill

Good smile. I JUST dled Vue 2 demo and am going to play with it today (we have another storm hitting with hours). I have Bryce and like it but am really impressed with the Vue stuff, so I don't want to miss your tips. I was the one that said I had saved your (original)Bass image and I was just putting that graphics folder on CDs and saw the file pass. It reminded me that I just loved that--and was so impressed with the beautiful texture you made for the fish. Diane B

Thank you Diane. Glad you are trying out Vue 2 to have a better feel. But don't get too discourage without the vegetation. I heard someone here posted saying that it comes only with the dead trees. Its the vegetation and the rendering growth engine that knocks you of your socks. There are many good think about it, like the Material Editor, Terrain Editor...etc.. I bought it even without testing the demo and ordered it the first day it was release for online orders. The main reason is because it support Poser exported 3Ds and Wavefront obj - works beautifully. I have Bryce too. Bill

quesswho ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 12:15 PM

It comes with more than just dead trees but I had such problems with the demo it kept crashing. Hope you have MUCH better luck with the demo than I did. I love the program though. Marge

tesign ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 12:21 PM

Hi Marge, May be you would want to let e-on know about this. I have never try it myself. Btw, what kind of system configuration you got, especially RAM and video card? Ati may have problem. Bill

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 12:54 PM

I think the 3.02 patch takes care of the crashing problem. It was one of the few bugs that shipped with the program. I was surprised that there were actually so few bugs with this program, at least, I didn't notice any other than the crashing problem. Kate

pentium3 500mg,19gb harddrive ,128 ram ,rage pro graphics card. I think it might have been somthing with Talkback( whatever that is) when I upgraded my Netscape to 4.7 talkback appeared and proceeded to reek havok. I couldn't upgrade my web page on geocities without netscape crashing. Nothing else on Netscape had any problems. Weird.Someday I'll tell the story of my graphics tablet. To boil it down I got rid of Talkback and things are fine. But I had recieved my purchased copy of Vue in the meantime. Since I got and upgraded to 3.0.2 no problems except my unexplainable problem that even E-ON hadn't heard of, and for that I had to delete and then reinstall. I was working on a pic went to theleft side of my topview screen to resize something clicked and twitched then my left side buttons were down at the bottom of the screen and my pic was nowhere to be found. reinstall didn't work so delete and then reinstall and try not to twitch again.( HAHAHA) Marge

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 6:44 PM

Marge, don't they have something you can take for that twitching? grinning, ducking, and running for cover Kate

quesswho ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 6:46 PM

I guess I don't take enough. HAHAHA. BIG HEARTY GAFFAW

tesign ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 8:03 PM

Hi Marge, rage pro is a ATi product. Some one in the Artominia had some sort of a weird problem too if I recall correctly. He too had an Ati video card. I am not sure if he had his problem solve. If you another video card or an old spare, you can always switch and compare. Bill

Question--. One--Bill's image inspired me to try a new texture for my bass (just to 'practice'), try to do a splash in Bryce--which I'm working on. However, what I'd LIKE to do is bring the bass into my Vue demo. So far I have been able to load an .obj but can't figure out how to get 'material' on it. I remember there was discussion before about this but haven't found it yet. Is there a tutorial somewhere for Vue about importing Poser with texture? Diane B

picnic ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 9:55 AM

Think I found my answer. Someone answered that it isn't possible to import .obj with textures into the demo. Also--suggested how one could import Poser into Vue (non demo) using .obj and regular Poser texmaps. Any comments? Diane B

quesswho ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 10:36 AM

I don't believe that you can import an obj with tex Ibelieve that the 3ds imports with the color . For a tex right click on the ball that shows your material(edit materials) click mapped picture and import your tex. remember itneeds to be rotated 180 and flipped/mirrored. Marge That is how I do it though there could be an easier way. If it works I use it.

picnic ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 12:32 PM

I'll try that with the demo. I always import .obj into Bryce so that is how I usually save. I'll try it with 3ds. Diane

picnic ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 12:39 PM

Hmmm, the demo won't open .3ds either. Maybe I can't import a Poser figure in the demo--or at least be able to 'texture' it. Diane B

quesswho ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 1:00 PM

Can you edit materials in the demo? I don't know as it would freeze when I would try to open there objects menu. Marge

tesign ( ) posted Sun, 30 January 2000 at 2:54 PM

Hello Diane - I think the demo is what it is, very limited. I have not tried the demo at all but I think only version 2.1 onwards allow you to import Poser and all the rest of the other 3Ds format (as you will like Bryce) into Vue. If you read at e-on, the 2.1 is an update/ugrade just to import the rest of the other format. If you have 2.1 or 3, importing the obj is a very direct process and importing texture map is very much the same as you will with Bryce. You can also have the obj part texture map separately by ungrouping them. My bass fish has their "fins" map seperately for a transparency effect. Bill
