Subject: Canvas like texture!!!

Hi gang I need a canvas like texture , in a piece I am working on, and for the life of me I can't remember, where I once saw it, is it a filter effect, or an action effect, I work mainly in PS, but I have Painter also. I might just be too tired and sleepy, so if this is a stupid question latter on to day please for give me , I have been up for 41 hours! thanks see ya

There is a filter in PS that will do what you want. I forget exactly which one, but if you hunt you should find it.

I think it's this: Filter/Texture/Texturizer. Then choose "canvas" in the "Texture" box.

Just a suggestion, or at least a tip that might help. If you have a flatbed scanner, you can scan any paper, canvas, cloth or whatever object you want to use as a texture.

Just scan, or convert the file to grayscale and save it with a .psd extension. Then from the texturizer drop down menu select load texture, and browse to the file you saved.

This way you can create custom textures, so that your work doesn't look like the canned pre-fab stuff that is often associated with the preset filters.

Oh one last thing... The image you save as a texture should have a fair amount of contrast, but not so much that it has to much plain black and white.
