This is Melody. She was one of five female figures I bought from Imagination Works back in August of 1997. At the time, I thought she was the greatest female 3D mesh I?d ever seen.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

This is Melody?s hand. It?s neat, clean and full of straight lines. All of Tom Knight?s models are that way. Neat. Clean. Full of straight lines. That?s exactly the way Amy is. Except for her hands. The polygons of Amy?s hands are a mishmash. Unfortunately, they?re a mishmash that looks like the mishmash in the P4 nude female?s hands...only triangulated. While I believe that Tom Knight created almost every bit of Amy, I no longer believe the he created Amy?s hands. While I?m not an Imagination Works employee, I have been their biggest advocate. I still truly believe in many of the concepts that make up Amy and believe she would have eventually made a truly awesome model. However, I can?t in good conscience support a company when there are allegations of dishonestly that seem to have considerable merit. Tom and Pam, if this turns out to be just a big mistake, I?m sorry. I wish the best for you in all your endeavors. Traveler...Eric, man, I am soooo sorry for getting you into this mess. The same goes for PhilC and all the other creators who got linked to this. Dan Farr, I?m sorry, but I was told that you and Tom had communicated, that you knew about Amy, and that relations were cordial between two. If that?s not true, then I apologize for my inaccurate post. I apologize to Anton. I can see now he was only doing a job and the was nothing personal in it. I apologize to all the people I convinced to buy Amy. It?s such a pity. We could have had good times with her. I apologize to all the people I annoyed with my "Hard Sell" posts. Blame it on the true belief in an idea. I apologize to Steve Cooper for the involvement this might lead to. Most of all, I?d like to apologize to the entire Poser Community. Something like this draws our focus away from what we really should be doing. Time for me go back to my art. Sorry. -Steve Taylor

Ah. Good post, Steve. If you're being honest ( and I have no reason to question your integrity based upon what you've said here ) then I'm glad to see you taking responsibility for your actions. Paul ( Who thinks not many people are willing to do that these days )

KattMan ( ) posted Thu, 25 April 2002 at 11:58 PM

I think it does well as an apology. He stated that he believed it was a great thing and as a customer wanted to tell everyone. He now sees some of the issues involved and instead of countering them simply says he is sorry. As far as it goes this is good, especially since we haven't seen the full outcome as yet.

Entropic ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 12:13 AM

Agreed, KattMan. For what it's worth, I'm glad the community has one less gallows to build. *8^> Paul

I know how you feel. I think all of us have at one time or another believed in something to find that it wasn't as pure as first perceived. Don't throw in the towel in regards to being a person who supports things they admire. With some taming, I think your bravado is an asset.

Lemurtek ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 1:18 AM

Hey Steve- Without getting into the whole Amy thing, just wanted to say I've always admired you as an artist, and I'm sorry to see you and Trav and all get caught up in something like this. I hope this doesn't discourage you too much, your talent and enthusiasm have been an asset to the community. Take care! Regards- Lemurtek

PheonixRising ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 1:26 AM

I am so sorry this happened to you. I really am. As I said sometime's artists work on something so much they forget they borrow from other. On some level Tom may truly believe the hands were his after awhile. The good from it is Tom will learn to do hands at the very least. :) It happens. It isn't your fault and you were just trying to promote for your friends. I still think the rest of Amy is skinned off of a morphed and resized Posette or other figures. I am sure there are many areas that Tom built himself but finding where original stated and copying finished is impossible once someone has stolen mesh. I never meant to put you in a bad spot as it says in my post. I was so hoping that you were being lied to and not apart of this. I think you are awesome for saying what you have said here and I think alot of you for it, not that my opinion means anything. Bravo and I am sorry this happened, Anton

Heh, I have sad sad news for you SmallSpace, but that model you love so above, is one that I also bought. I bought it for 49.00 as a MEMBER of REM Infografica's Model Bank, membership of which cost me 450.00 a year. Right around 1996 or 1997 thereabouts. ALL of the REM Infografica Inventory is now owned by Viewpoint Datalabs. Sad sad day this is. PAMOLA AND TOM KNIGHTS, WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR COMPANY HAVE TO SAY?

Oh Good Gad! I also bought a WONDERFUL science fiction female named Rachel from REM Infografica at the same time period that I bought the one above. I still have these archived to my tape drive... she cost me 49.00 with my membership, and is now owned by Viewpoint Datalabs since they bought out REM Infografica. Guys, do you have permission from ViewPoint to resell Rachel? http://www.iw43d.com/IW_FutrH_Img05.htm

And here is Viewpoints Rachel... I think you can see where their Rachel comes from quite easily.

These are crazy prices ...

smallspace ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 2:14 AM

Hi Mehndi, I really didn't want to add anything to this post, but I do have to clear up this last little bit. I know of the Infografica model bank. The complete truth is that Tom did, indeed create all those figures. Before they were on the model bank, they were sold directly from Viewpoint for several hundred dollars a piece under the Imagination Works lable. That's where I first saw them. That was around 94 or 95, I think. Eventually Tom marketed them through Infografica's model bank (that's where I also purchaced them - on an "any 5 models for a fixed price" special). The d'Espona split with Infografica, the model bank went in two directions...one went with d'Espona and the other stayed with Infografica who then sold it to Viewpoint. In any case, it's my understanding that Imagination Works still owns the rights to all those models and I don't think there is any wrong doing in that case. -Steve

Grammer ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 2:16 AM

Slowly, slowly, the file is under the subsection Imaginationsworks at Viewpoint. Before you accuse have a look !!!

Mehndi ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 2:23 AM

Ah, then if he is the original modeller of it, instead of dEspona and the other modellers at REM, which I thought were all Spanish modellers, I do sincerely apologize. This is what I would like to know though... did he model these things or not. This is very confusing, when you see evidence that he has frankensteined parts of Posette, it leads one to begin to worry about the whole product line. And as of yet, though Pamola said she was addressing it, she did not address it at all, again, this leads one to begin to dig and look for answers. So if I am wrong, I am sincerely sorry for being wrong, but I am not sorry for looking for answers since none were provided yet.

soulhuntre ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 3:41 AM

Well, I don't knwo anything about the hands... but I do know this... Tom has been a highly respected name in the "big league" circles of 3D for a long time and has proven himself over and over as a good guy and a good modeler. I see no reason at this point to change my opinion of him that way. If there is a problem with Amy well, I think it is probably an isolated incedent.

jjsemp ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 3:43 AM

One of the great ironies here is that all of this hoo-hah is over P4 Nude Woman, a figure that many folks here regularly dismiss as being primitive, useless and generally not worth paying any attention to since the arrival of Vicky, Steph and the others. I guess this all just proves that there's still some life in the old gal yet! (P.S. I still think the P4 Nude Woman is great -- especially for animation).

Mehndi ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 3:58 AM

LOL Jjsemp! Yeah, you do have a point :) Personally, my favorite character I have ever made, Delilah, was with Posette :)

judith ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 4:02 AM

"I see no reason at this point to change my opinion of him that way. If there is a problem with Amy well, I think it is probably an isolated incident." I agree. Though I haven't been on the 3D scene long enough to know who's who, the man is a fantastic modeler. Even I can see that in the products I have, and he and Pamola were quick to respond to my requests and questions. That's why I found this all very surprising. I'll reserve making my judgements until I hear definitively about the Amy model. Personally, I've found that statements made in haste at times come back to bite you in the butt. "I will put up a formal post (ON A NEW THREAD) tomorrow morning, to clear up all of the madness. It should alleviate any fears you might have about us, and/or answer all of your questions." This was from Pamola...... in LA it's pretty much still last night.

What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

Smallspace: You've got this whole apology thing wrong. What you need to do is look everyone in the eye and insist that everything you did was absloutely above reporoach. Insist that it is obvious that everything you said, that looks to be in error, was in fact correct. Have your significant other point out that this whole thing was brought up by evil right wing conservative modelers. State boldly and loudly that you absolutely did not have sex with that women ...Ms. Amy.. Oh wait... that approach only seems to work in Washington.. Seriously... if more people had the courage to admit they were wrong we'd all be a lot better off. Almost everyone can forgive an honest mistake, nobody likes to be lied to; so good luck in all this. (Sometimes it's hazardous to be the point man..)

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 7:01 AM

Smallspace, thank you for your apology. That was very mature of you. I'm proud of you for doing it; I know it must be hard facing the lynch mob as it may be. ^_~

Creative, passionate people tend to not infrequently get carried away with our enthusiasm. That's why everyone finds us such an absolute joy to live with / work with / be around! (?)

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 9:04 AM

Smallspace I figured from the beginning you were probably taken in, but it still takes a lot of guts to come in and make an apology for believing in someone. Of course it's accepted, and don't let this stop you from trusting people, happens to everyone. Marque

Smallspace, I am glad to see that you're able to move beyond a mistake without becoming bitter or too hard on yourself. Of course, your apology is accepted. Jay

polartech ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 9:45 AM

I have to agree that the apology here by smallspace is indeed very heartening to see. Well done mate! Hope this all gets sorted out without too much gnashing of teeth... although there`s a very strong smell of fish around it all.

atom123 ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 3:58 PM

lol, hey smallspace, im sorry 2..... i laffed at you.... i was truly under an impression, (and wrongfully so) that you were aware of this, and was part of a "plot"....... i apologize... im still amazed at all the drama involved w/ what i thought was a hobby.... now i apologize 2 "all rosity members" 4 not seeing that this is some of yalls "life and likehood"....

JDexter ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 7:06 PM

Well, as a purchaser of Amy because of your reccomendation, I accept the apology. Really I wasn't mad at you at all, I know that I am not the only person who can be misled. Poop happens, you know? I am just disappinted because I was Psyched about working on Amy this weekend. (Not because I don't love all the models I have already, but I like jumping from one to another, keep me interested.) Instead I will be working with the Millenium Kids this weekend, since I really haven't done enough with them yet to have moved on to something else. Cost of Amy - $50.00 Cost of sincere apology - Priceless. Thanks =) JDexter

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sat, 27 April 2002 at 12:48 AM

smallspace, you did a respectable thing with this post. God bless you. In the end, it's still possible that Amy is 100% original. I stated in the earlier post that the body seems to be different, but the hands objection seems to have merit. I'm no expert, but I know this, that you did the right thing with this post. In the future, it may turn out to be different in conclusion, but for now, this was right. God bless, ben

As the orientals would say, you're gaining enormous face, Steve. And IMHO, enthusiasm and excitement is not really something apologize for.
