Hi, I've just uploaded some new stuff to the galleries, I note with interest that the nude is doing well... :P In other news, Norton Anti Virus had a suprise for me this morning, it said I had one... :) it said it was an "auto update" virus, (whatever that is) called Cool Stuff.ocx and Cool Stuff.inf strangely enough it never notified me when I down loaded them, but it's been fetching updates quite often in recent days. NAV, failed to "clean" them so it quarantined them instead. You may wish to do likewise. later jb

You do know that autoupdate is what Norton does to keep itself up to date? In other words, it's not a virus. It's a good thing.

Well I've received 10 emails this week alone with the same virus attached. My internet security warned me of this when I tried to open the download. I can't remember the name of the virus but you may want to avoid opening any attachment that has no text in the email itself (none of them did except one stating that this is not a virus although your security program may tell you it is. All were from email addresses I didn't recognize but opened just in case it was from a customer with a different email address than their nick on Rosity. I believe you will only get the virus if you open the attachment.

Hi, Yup, I've been flying a keyboard for 20+ years, Ron. I know exactly what autoupdate means, just not what an "auto update virus" is. The funny thing is we use Lotus Notes as a mail client, which has Norton built into it at the server end. So it would have found and screened it if it came in via mail. Being a postmaster I can tell you we get about 10-20 virus warnings/deletions per day. The amusing thing is when users get virus notifications for email they say they never sent. In one case the bloke was on holiday... :) I passed it on as it's the first time NAV has ever told me I had a virus and it scans the whole machine once a day, as well as continually as I surf/read/run prorgrams. At some point I may take a look at the code, see what it actually does and where it's updating to/from. later jb

As I teach my college students, an antivirus program is only as good as the virus signatures it "knows" - i.e., if a virus on your hard drive contains an unknown signature, nothing will stop it.

Just remembered the name of the virus - something like Klez32 .

praxis22, The obvious first question is: did you consult the Norton/Symanted site for info on this virus? I've never heard of it, but that may just mean I'm out of date. You most likely know that some viruses or trojans literally take over people's computers. They send out emails to everyone on their address books.. The computer owner him/herself doesn't do the dirty deed. Heck, I received one of those emails from a past employer, a year or so after we parted ways. I wrote to them about it, but never received a response. That employer was never too careful with their computers when I was there.
