Subject: "Memmap Vxd failure" Whats Up wit dat?

I dont know where else to ask this but um.. OK heres the deal. I have a AMD-K6 300MHz, 196mb (128mb + 64mb), and two 6.1Gigs HD running on WIN 2K. So I got another 128chip same as the other 128mb, both are the same..P133. After I installed the chip.. EVERYTHING was A-OK. Anyhow..I had to downgrade to WIN ME, cuz my couldn't run Mix Man Pro4 nor my Raindow6-Rouge Spear games. So why do I now get a error message after boot in windows a popup says "Memmap Vxd failure" Whats Up wit dat? Please help.. other then that everything is fine.. thats the only error I get.. HELP ME!!

I've encountered this when setting up new systems. I belive it's video related. Try going into Control Panel->System->Device Manager and look for any exclamation icons. Then fix them. You might also try re-installing your video card drivers for ME. That might fix it also. ScottA

Well hmmm i dont know... all i know is that i had WIN ME but its that i went to WIN 2K.... then i installed another 128mb to make 256mb.. and i went back to WIN ME... an i get the error

It's just a guess on my part. When installing a win 98 system. If you choose the wrong video driver you'll get a "cannot find .Vxd" error. However, the "Memmap" wording is something I've never seen before. Try the Hardware&Technical forum. Those guys do a lot of system building ScottA

Just off the top of my head, I suggest you remove the new memory and bootup the computer. If the computer behaves, then it's the new memory that's the problem.

This problem might have been caused by that downgrade process. This is pretty confusing. I just checked the Microsoft Knowledge Base. They have absolutely no information on Memmap Vxd failure. They usually have just about everything listed there. Ron
