Hi all I've just discovered my machine is still infected with the w32 virus, it seems that XP has a wonderful new system built in called system restore, yes that's old news to most, but I've just found out that the w32 virus will infect restore points and the virus removal software can't get to it, I've turned system restore off but I'm now going to have to do something really drastic to get rid of that virus once and for all. be careful out there people Rob

I'm sorry for your virus troubles. I just can't understand why some people enjoy making others' lives miserable! I wish they did something positive with their time instead of thinking up ways to infect people's computers!!! :( Anyway, thanks for the info.

I'm running windows ME and have a system restore on it. If you just turn it off then run virus scan and then reboot your machine it will clean the virus off. then you can turn the system restore back on. I've had to clean a virus off like that before. It can be a pain, but restore comes in handy if you really screw something on your pc up. :)

Thanks LadyTieryn, that's good to know. I have Windows ME also and thinking about buying a laptop which would come with XP, so these things are good for me to know, too. :)

thanks ladies, I'll try anything to get rid of this virus, I've got it trapped at the moment so it can't do any damage as long as I don't have to use restore, I should be ok till it's finally dead. Rob
