Subject: A new gallery for collabs?

Rio ( ) posted Mon, 06 May 2002 at 12:04 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 2:58 AM

Just an excuse for some cool people to smush their brains together and collaborate on images. Lot of merchants do things with partners already, with both, or all, names under each thumb, etc... maybe if there were a collab gallery it could be another cool way to really get interactive with each other? ;o)

Now this idea REALLY appeals to me. I periodically search the net for sites that have collaborative art on them. Haven't run across much, but I have a few links if you're interested, Rio.

Absolutely! yeah post em up!

Sipapu ( ) posted Mon, 06 May 2002 at 12:20 AM

Urgh! Having said that, I'm having trouble finding them. I'm in the process of moving from one computer to another. Looks like it's going to be a while (maybe a day or two). When I find 'em, I'll start a thread in the OT forum, rather than here.

CrystalWizard ( ) posted Mon, 06 May 2002 at 6:04 PM

how about a forum for collabs with a gallery to go with it? hard to get together and work on a mutual project withotu some where to discuss it, suggest ideas and so on. right now, you'll find some of that in all the forums but it would be a lot eaiser to find people to work with if there was a central location to post to.

Yep, good idea, CrystalWizard. (You're my favorite idea person today - LOL!)

Hah. Finally found those links. I haven't visited them in a long time, so I can't even say whether they're still there or if you'll get 404s. But here they are: http://fgidec1.tuwien.ac.at/1002situations/ http://www.communimage.ch/engl/index.html Sipa

Yer welcome, Rio. I was actually kinda surprised I found them. ;-)

cool ideas say I

CrystalWizard ( ) posted Fri, 17 May 2002 at 2:44 AM

so any feedback from staff about this idea yet?

Sipapu ( ) posted Fri, 17 May 2002 at 5:12 PM

Nope. Sorry, CW. I think it's still a little early on this. But I'll keep checking on this thread, and if the interest seems to be piling up, I'll be sure to bring it to everyone's attention. It's definitely an interest of mine. :-) On the other hand, I rarely have any time these days to be making any art at all, much less in collaboration with someone else. Sigh. :-(

I still maintain that basing decisions of what the membership wants on the offchance that they'll actualy READ this forum and having read it the even smaller chance that they'll RESPOND is a bad idea. that ideas should be posted on the home page and a voting link attached to them because most of the membership isn't even going to be aware that they exist. I'll use myself as a case in point. the only reason i ever came in to this forum in the first place was becuase I was bored to tears one night and all the forums i normaly read were empty. chat was empty. i'd posted my 3 images and had nothing to do. I still don't read it regularly. and i'm outspoken. Most of the membership of anything isn't outspoken and isn't likely to post that they like or dislike something, but you give them a chance to vote secretly (well serect to anyone but the admins) and you put that opportunity where most of them will see it, you'll get a much better and more representitive response.

Hi CrystalWizard, I do agree about the need for a different way of getting members' input about such things. I'll start a discussion about it among the mods. Don't expect to see any changes in this dept. in the near future, though, OK? The list for the future new programmer is verrrrrrrry long, as I know you know. ;-) And, just my bringing this up with the mods and admins still doesn't guarantee that it will get on the list, of course.
