It's been a while since I posted a render of some of the clothing I',m working on for Mike. Here are a couple of shots. I'm just about happy with them. Some of Mike's body parts have to be made invisable during the more extreme poses but I've come to the conclusion that there just isn't any way I can make the clothes tight enough to look right and still not have Mike "blow thru" at certain angles. Let me know what you think. mike

Mike, When I look the character as untextured It seems that the boots are under the trousers. When I look it with the texture. The trousers is in the boots. Otherwise the clotche is good. Guy

Ops! IT's the coloring. Actually the boots are seperate objects OVER the pants. None of the clothing is actually textured, just colors added in Poser. I still have to build appropriate texture maps. mike

If the pants are tucked inside the boots, the ankles would not be quite as baggy and square-bottomed as you have them here. The riding boots which are worn with jodhpurs come up a bit higher IIRC, and might have a strap across the arch?

I was kind of trying for this type of look to the boots, but I guess I don't have the wrinkles right. They to look like pants leg bottoms. I'll have to work on that some more. I was going to add the straps to the tops of the boots (as in the picture). Oh, well, back into the modeller for a bit. mike

I've modified the boots to, hopefully. make it more clear that they are outside of the pants and to correct the problems noted. let me know it they look any better. oh. I re colored them as well. mike

They look a little stiff as yet, but a lot better overall! (especially now that they are over the trousers) These are boots and not paint. :) Next... the jodhpur's "baggy side flap" (for want of the correct term) is usually flattened and sticks straight out to the side. Can you play with the morphs a bit more to get that look? What you have now is real close (it is recognizable), but it could be better if the flap looked a little flatter. The only other thing I'd work on is the chest. The button placket doesn't lay smoothly all the way along... it looks like a couple of puckers in the mesh? Otherwise, this is darned good. Carolly

You would gain more flexibility in usage by losing the piping on the sleeves. Such piping as are found on this type jacket often take different shapes, when found at all, and can be done with bump maps and textures. The same goes for the piping on the collar.

Looks great Trav! More wrinkles on the boots and tunic can be painted into the texture.. no prob there.. As for the piping.. I use it a lot on my clothes too.. Makes for a solid connection between parts sometimes :) Kudos!

Huolong maybe right about gaining some usage flexibility but I think that piping looks great and you couldn't get bump maps and textures to match that definition.

I'm looking forward to a Mike version to supplement/replace the P4 guys I have here. This shows how boots, from Dark Props, work out well here.
