how does 1 go about making poseable/bendable rope and stuff??? say you have a flamethrower.... the "pipe" that connects from the "backpack" to the "gun".... how?!? any suggestions, or ideas??? using rhino and propack....

Well either slice it up and make a figure out of it or use morphs to get the same effect. Morphs will probly be easier to do but will make for a larger file size.

I believe Sam's3d has a good tutorial on making figures. And there was one here in the tutorial section too(by ScottA I think).

Don't forget Ajax's Easypose tutorial on RuntimeDNA!

I think Ajax has a free posable figure in Freestuff that uses his Easypose method. You can use that and apply a suitable texture to make it into a rope, hose or whatever.

For what you're doing, the method I would suggest is to make a posable tube (like mine but without the EasyPose), set it up with IK and then parent one end to the backpack and one end to the flamethrower. I haven't tried it yet but that's my idea for how to approach this type of problem.

View Ajax's Gallery - View Ajax's Freestuff - View Ajax's Store - Send Ajax a message

heyas; check the freestuff, because anthony appleyard has a backpack flamethrower kinda thing around here somewhere. or at least he was working on one from time to time. check out his scuba stuff too, the rebreathers have stuff like that.

well thanks guys! im w/ ajax on this.... imma set up a tube/cylinder w/ many bones........ i can then save that as a prop, and then edit it as need be. i can stick a "dummy" on both ends, so that its stable on the ends (so it shouldnt float around, only the cable inbetween). i came up w/ this myself, i just hope it werks..........

if you're looking for something premade that you can dissect to see how it works I have a 16 segment poseable hose (cr2) set up for the hookah I posted to freestuff over at 3D Commune. The modelling was done in lightwave & the bone structure in the Pro Pack
