Subject: problem with Stephanie

mjohn47 ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 11:09 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 2:09 PM

I just bought Stephanie and every time I click on her head I get that C exception error and Poser crashes. I can click on any other part without a problem. I tried reinstalling Poser and Steph and it still does it. I don't have any problems with the other figures. Anybody got any ideas. It's really frustrating to not be able to pose her head!

Have you loaded 4.03 update? and how must ram do you have?

Sounds like the 4.03 update problem to me, as well. I had trouble with the mats that I bought from their site (when I downloaded her). For some reason, they caused Poser to lock up. I resized them (smaller) and had no more problems. I Steph your first Millenium figure? If so, it might be a memory problem. They do require more resources than the standard poser figures. eric

This is my first Millenium figure and I'm new to the whole Poser scene. I have 256 megs of ram, shouldn't that be enough? I haven't installed any updates yet. Is there some patch for this? Thanks for the help!

The update refered to is at curiouslabs.com

I just installed the 4.0.3 update and it looks like that fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!

256 megs to start with is ok. I'm run 512meg in one and 1gig in the other both run win2K. Yes there is a update to Poser at Curious Labs web site.

If you have just bought Poser 4 it should allready be 4.03. You will not need the update. I asked about that myself and was told to check certain numbers in poser. Mine is 4.03 and I bought mine last November. I can't find the thread but maybe someone here can remember where to look. Mine opens so fast I cant read anything.

I just opened poser file and the read me is 4.03. Ron's way probably easer but why do it the easy way when the hard way works. Thanks Ron Tashar 59

I'm a lazy guy. I'm good at finding the easy ways, and I like to share that information with others!!! Message671422.jpg

You know, everyone says you need at least 512meg of RAM to run Poser. I only have 128meg and I've never had any problems. I've used multiple millennium figures in one scene, all dressed and coifed, and I still have no problems. I think you should just be your own judge on that subject. If it works, that's all that matters. Heck, my old computer only had 40megs of RAM and I was using Vicki with no problems. And that old dinosaur only had a Cyrix processor. I'm using a Pentium 3 now, but everything runs smoothly. Melanie

I only have 128 megs too, and I don't have any problems other than my own stupidity. All the high res stuff for eg. a stefyZZ tex, HMann gypsy hair, the clothes, bumpmaps, props, seens, figures, lights only take a few minutes. Can't even make a coffee in the time it renders. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky few. Tashar 59
