Subject: Hiding layers?

Christoph1 ( ) posted Thu, 23 May 2002 at 1:46 PM ยท edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 2:41 AM

This was a problem in Vue 4.0.3 and has apparently not been fixed with the 4.0.6 patch. You know the little eyeball next to the object layers? Well, I'm supposed to be able to click it, and all the objects in that layer will become hidden. Instead, the little eye gets greyed out, and nothing happens . . . I can still see and manipulate the objects in the preview window. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bonafide problem?

Hi Christoph. No, the little eye hides the layer only. If you want to hide completely an object, select the objest, then click at the HIDE icon and choose HIDDEN from the list. Hope this is what you wanted? Guitta

I forgot: You also can select the layer and then click this same icon and choose HIDDEN.

Haha! I've never done it this way, but you also can click twice the eye of the layer you want to hide. LOL

Thanks for the reply. I tried setting the property to 'hidden' under that icon like you suggested, but it doesn't do anything. It says it's hidden, but in the working views it's still there. Something to do with my video drivers?

When you choose "hidden" for an object, it becomes only effectif after you have clicked in one of the 4 windows. If you click again the (greyed) name of the hidden object in the world browser, it becomes visible to make it possible for you to move it, but as soon as you choose another object, it is hidden again and this until you unhide it. If you do not get these results, uncheck OPENGL in the FILE--->OPTIONS and try again. But I'm sure it works one way or the other and that you're maybe misunderstanding its function. Nobody else has sayd that it doesn't work, that's why I think so. Please keep us up to date:-) Guitta

Yeah, I suspect I'm misunderstanding what it's supposed to do. I miss the ol' Bryce days . . . lol. Thanks for the help.
