Ok I have opened and closed Poser lke 3 times, and for some ungodly reason my workspace window is NOT there. I cant get it to come up!! Please help anyone someone!! Thanks

From the Edit menu, select General Preferences, and change Document Preference to "Launch to Factory State". Shut down and relaunch Poser. This will restore the document window and all of the other interface components to their original settings. After you get everything arranged properly, use the UI Dots to save your workspace settings. Then, the next time this happens, you can use the dots to reset your document window, instead of having to shut down and restart.

I tried that, it didn't work. I even restarted!! I think I will have a breakdown if i have to reinstall this! I have so much stuff installed...deep breaths. I can't imagine WHY its not there!

When you uninstall it, it only deletes the stuff that comes with Poser. Once it's uninstalled, look in the Poser directory and you'll see the Runtime folder is still there and in it is all your stuff. Then when you reinstall it, all of it will be right where it was before.

Ok but really is there any way around all that? Why would the window disappear? This makes NO sense to me at all. I would like to know why it wont just come up. Any suggestions?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 12:13 AM

Has it disappeared completely, along with all of the other interface controls? If so, you might have selected Close from the File menu at some point. Try selecting New from the File menu.

No everything else is there. And if I hit render in new window it renders whatever is there (in this case the default guy that comes up). I am beyond lost...this is kinda baffling.

Try going to file > new and see if it comes up. Mine does that sometimes if I open a pz3 file for some reason. If I hit file > new it opens the window again. Marque

pz3s that mess up my workspace are such a pain. i have learnt to strip all document stuff from them and make them into cr2s - wish someone would create a utility to do this... :) tip: make all your default.pz3s read only. since it's messed up anyway, how about you delete your default.pz3 (rename it to default.bak, don't destroy it...) and then restart poser? see if it helps. goodluck :)

Actually, after 3 restarts of my computer and restarting Poser more times than I care to count, it's there. NO idea what happened but that was horrible! lol Thank you all SO much for your help and so quickly too! Appearantly I am not the only one that shudders at the thought of no Poser. lol Thanks again all of you. I appreciate your help a great deal.

I had a problem where the document window was located high up at the left edge of my monitor. It was so high, that the document title was off the screen. Since the document wondow is moved by dragging it's title around, I couldn't move the window back to center screen. I found the solution in an old FAQ file. The solution was - Type "PP2" Screen reverts to Poser 2 layout. Type "PP3" Screen reverts to Poser 4 layout with document window centered. I don't know if this would work with your problem, but if your problem returns, give it a try.

April... I agree about pz3 files. It annoys me when people distribute them because they always muck up my viewscreen and so forth. Hmmm... I see another tool for PBooost looming ahead of me! It makes MAT files now, too! Howard:)

CR2Edit has had a tool for converting PZ3 to CR2 for close to 4 years, although early versions simply renamed them, which will work, but won't cut down file size. Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com for CR2Edit, ZenPaint, ZenTile, VueMaster and the complete line of Zenware graphics apps

Sometimes weird things start happening, when your whole Poser files are way to big, too much of everything. BryceTech told me this awhile back. He told me to take off some MG's, I didn't and it permently crashed, had to reinstall. Now when weird things happen I take off stuff I don't use and so far this fixes it. And as BT says Back up your Poser. I have one on hubbys pc. (just for backup) and I have cds with all the zips. BACKUP your Poser!

If you double click the filename banner to the top left of the workspace window it will hide the window. If you can still see the filename (or "Untitled") you may have done this by accident, you can get the window back by double clicking on the banner again.

dwilmes ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 12:48 PM

William, that is very cool, I didn't know that! I'd be willing to bet that was Cimerone's problem. I can't imagine why someone would want to hide the window, maybe something left from during development. It is in my Poser as well, so it has been there for some time. (I run a Metacremations beta 4, cuz it absolutely never crashes or locks up, opens Mil. people fine, all claims that you need the latest update to do this to the contrary) Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com for CR2Edit, ZenPaint, ZenTile, VueMaster and the complete line of Zenware graphics apps

In referance to williamshell tip on double-clicking the doc window title tag: I use this method on all of the tool/lighting/camera displays when I want them out of the way. Frees up some space when I am not using them or need just an extra inch or so of doc size.
