Hi guys , I was just sitting here wondering if I am using the most optimal workspace setup. I figured the best workspace design will come from you guys showing the ones you use, because lets face it this neighbor has the best posers in the world. So don't hold back show your stuff !! Thanks guys , there is no limit to the things you can learn here !!!! see ya

Kelderek ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 2:56 AM

I may be boring, but I havent altered my workspace that much... Just moved the tool groups further out towards the edges of the screen, since I have a 1024 x 768 monitor. The default Poser setting must have been done with a 800 x 600 in mind.

17" @ 1280 x 1024 Quite a boring workspace I admit but I've gotten used to it and wouldn't change a thing ;) (only the colours - altering them every once in a while brings new inspirations to my poser work :P )

hogwarden ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 5:58 AM

So how exactly do you change the colour of the workspace background? Hmmm... H:)

Oh and mine is 17" @ 1280 x 1024 just like Papu's :)

PhilC ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 6:14 AM

To change the workspace colour select the paint bucket tool and click on any free background area.

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 6:35 AM

How do you change the direction on the tools, so for instance the Doc Style bar is vertical instead of horizontal?

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 6:39 AM

HELP! How do I get rid of the old interface? I decided to try it for fun after reading Kozaburo's post... but now my Poser loads it automatically... ARRGHHH FyreSpriyt, just do Alt+click on the toolbar, I think that's the trick.

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 6:47 AM

Oh nevermind, I got it... it was simply 'po3' :)

My workspace is at a 1152x864 screen resolution. I doubled my Poser document space to 700x700 after finally getting a nice 17" monitor. I'm working on my new "Character Tutorial," and Vicky was feeling friendly! ![Message671422.jpg](http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Message671422.jpg) Ron

Here's mine, 19" at 1280x1024.

FishNose ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 4:05 PM

Raven, that's almsot identical to mine - but I run it at 1280x960, since that's the correct ratio for things to look right - 4:3. If you use 1280x1024 (as many here apparently do) that's 5:4, which makes everything a bit short and fat, so figures don't look correct, the way they should. However, not many monitors can do 1280x960. My 21 incher which is at the repairman at the moment, can't do it. But then I run that monitor at 1600x1200, so it doesn't matter. On this much older monitor I'm using now, the highest is 1280x1024, but I avoid that if I work with Poser or Photoshop and such. Use 1280x960 instead. But of course any res works fine for Word & Excel and stuff like that. Correct ratios for true proportions: 640x480 800x600 1024x768 1152x864 1280x960 1600x1200 2048x1536 These are all 4:3 ratio. :] FishNose

LadyTieryn ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 4:26 PM

How do you do Poser4's secret command 'po2' or 'po3' ? I like Kozaburo's workspace and would like to have something like that if I could.

JimX ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 4:36 PM

po2!! Wow! I just tried it. I booted Poser up, and without selecting anything, I just typed po2. And there was an interface like Kozaburo's (minus the pieces of Photoshop showing through). I just learned something! (for the gazillionth time here in Renderosity) This bears some playing with..... (...off to play....) - JimX

BazC ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 5:01 PM

How do you get the tools and doc style to run vertically? I'm using Poser3 so I might not be able to do that but it could be really handy if I could! BazC

Xena ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 5:43 PM

Mine is similar to Raven's except I place the Document Style and Editing Tools vertical and stick them behind the Figure Menu. My main window is 500x500 and the background is the regular colour :) I run @ 1024x768 Baz .. click on the heading of the tools and doc whilst holding down the Alt key :)

17 inch at 1024x768. I like to keep my document window with a standard 4:3 PC aspect ratio (700x525 is one, just not one monitors do) so I can make desktop size images easily.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 10:38 PM

Out of curiosity, are the people who place the dials on the left left-handed?

3ddave44 ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 11:26 PM

p4interface.jpg Only 14 inch at home - 17 at work - but I'm soon to get a new one for home. Setup is the same on both. Also, do you all know the trick about the wireframe background figure? For one, you can move it whereever you want like the other items but also if hold down the alt key (PC) and click the wireframe background figure, you will cycle through quite a few alternate posed figures. : ) Interesting, fun thread.

BAM ( ) posted Thu, 30 May 2002 at 10:12 AM

This thread is making me think, showing me some things I didn't know, and making me question some things I'm seeing. I tried the PO2 switch and many of my previews don't show up is this because I have propack and it saves preview images differently? Is there any way to over come this? Is there any way to get the Figures, Poses, Props, etc. menu to show up all the time instead of hiding when you click outside the document window? I notice that the pictures have the name in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Often times this does not show up for me, there's nothing up there. Any ideas as to why that happens or how to get it to reappear?

I work on a 19" monitor with resolution at 1280 x 1024. I like having my actual workspace big so I can see what's going on with it. I take stuff I don't use and either don't show it or tuck it down in a corner somewhere with only the menu bar showing. Going to give that 'po3' thing a try as soon as I finish this post :). I love learning new things!

Mines just about the same as scifiguys' - I find being right handed it's much easier for me to have all the toolbars on the right - I set up all my apps like that if I can. Howdyado those screen shots tho? I feel quite inadequate now :)

SkyeWolf ( ) posted Thu, 30 May 2002 at 3:50 PM

I use PSP for the screen shots...File ->Import ->Screen Capture

scifiguy ( ) posted Thu, 30 May 2002 at 5:31 PM

On windows, just hit the "print screen" button and it saves the screen to the clipboard. Paste it to your favorite editor as a new image. It doesn't capture mouse cursors...for that you need something like PSP's screen capture function.

BazC ( ) posted Thu, 30 May 2002 at 6:28 PM

Thanks Xena! It does work with P3 though I haven't found a better arrangement using the vertical tools yet. Baz

Cool!

Thanks SkyeWolf and scifiguy - I thought the screen-capture in PSP was just for grabs in that app.

Hey, y'learn somethin every day :)

SkyeWolf ( ) posted Fri, 31 May 2002 at 2:07 PM

You're welcome! Well I've tried the old interface and I sort of like it....it's a little harder for me to get around in but also a bit more versatile...all in all I think I'll stick with the new one.

After reading people's suggestions, I upped my screen resolution to 1280 x 960 and found it to be still readable. (19" monitor.) I had to tweak my Poser settings - menus got stuck off screen, I lost the background color repeatedly - still can't get the right color back, but overall, it's what I want.

Personally, I keep the dials to the left side of the screen as I am right handed. It's less distance between the keyboard and the mouse and I type in most of my dial settings. I spend most of my time with posing dials, so it's more comfortable for me.

I find it interesting that right handed folks place there stuff on the right. I am right handed and use the left. Hmm might be because I use my wacom pen.. And before anyone asks.. No I have no trouble using it. :) I did at first but perserved and won.

Here's mine, 19" moniter at 1280 x 960. I've tried to make as much room for my workspace as possible. The cute little fella on the screen is a bogey. They're about 6" tall (15 cm) and always very hungry. ;)

I thought 'bugger it!', and went up to 1600x1200. Had to change to large font size, but it is now just awesome!! Working area is 1140x1030. By the way, I'm right-handed.
