Subject: Feedback on my attempt to make Dubyah!

Okay folks, I attempted to make George W. Bush in poser form for the poser survivor contest. Also I made a unique head texture for it from a picture of Bush himself. OKay, i'm looking for feedback on the image itself, and whether or not the character would sell in the marketplace, (under a different name of course). Thanks in advance, peace.

Frankie, I've seen you come a far way with poser, but that is a photo!!!

Cool! He looks a bit young perhaps, but really good. And by the way, his head is far, far too small in relation to his body (shoulders) - push up the head scale to 130% and he'll look better. :] FishNose

Hmmm....I didn't want him for Prez, I wouldn't want him near the denizens of my happy little poser town. Of course, I could render out countless images of him in unhappy situations...(perk) He's coming along....though like Fishnose said, he's looking a bit too young. Good work so far.

Hmm.... looks a bit like Will Ferrell playing GWB in SNL... Very close!

Very good work! You could probably sell a Clinton texture over at Renderotica....

Looks great but the bottom one looks like Charlton Heston somehow - same politics though. BUT 1st. The FBI has been unleashed to troll chatrooms. 2nd. No way in hell would I try using a picture of Shrub and try to sell it, much less point out the fact. I may be paranoid, but I'd be way careful here and maybe ask some advice from someone who may know more. 3rd. I'd love to have him but I'm broke at the moment. 4th. Selling him, even if safe, is a Republican kind of thing to do. Give him to the masses.

I thought itsming had a Clinton Poser model? I don't remember if it was free or for sale, but it was available a couple years ago. Parodies are protected under the first amendment and Presidents give up their privacy when they enter the oval fish bowl. They become "a public figure", and lose a few rights when they gain those extra privileges. You can buy bobbing head car toys and sneering Halloween masks with Bush's features (advertised in national catalogs), so I don't see why there would be any problem with a mesh. Carolly

I'm sure you're correct Carolly regarding the parody issue, My only concern was that the use of the photo might raise copyright concerns. The Whitehouse probably wouldn't want to bring attention to the issue anyway. Of course, malicious tax audits went out with Nixon (along with domestic spying by the FBI) right? lmckenzie, I've been audited twice. They found a math error in a carry-forward the second time (which mortally embarrassed my accountant), otherwise the records were clean and complete. Audits are survivable if you keep every last piece of paper. Since artists are "a suspect class", we need to be prepared anyway, even if we don't have political opinions. BTW, for the curious, audits are less painful than a root canal - you can't pay someone to sit in the dentist's chair for you. Since the hair was reused, there could be copyright issues with the photographer. If this was a model for sale, other pics would need to be consulted to get the profile right, and even some film clips to imitate the body language (no nose-picking, though!) ;p The hair will be tricky, but I suspect that using Kozaburo's technique for the basic hair and shaping the transmap correctly would yield something pretty close. Good start
but use it cautiously!!
any images that depict the president or recognizable images of the president being harmed

will be considered a threat
will cause an uncomfortable visit by the secret service
and probably put you on their " Watch list"
weather he is a
Republiclown or Democretin :-)

I was going to mention the violent image thing Wolf359. As far as the creator goes though this would be like the "underage" fairies used in unwholesome images (depending on whether that's legal or illegal today as opposed to next week). Shouldn't come back on the figure's creator, only the image maker. Still the feds are feeling randy these days. Frankiebone I hope none of this has discouraged you. Of course, not that I would have a use for such a figure or a 3D pretzel. "Shopping and buying and getting and having comprise the Great American Addiction. I wonder how much of a market there are for other famous faces ... they're fair game for lampoonery. Or adulation, if you like.

Politicians would be great for someone wanting to do an online political cartoon - a virtual Oliphant. Others would probably rise & fall in popularity along with their counterparts. There seems to be a new Britney Spears figure periodically. The current one (don't remember who has it) is looks very good. I wonder though, how many renders actually have her singing, or with her clothes on. Seems like there'd be a market for immortals like Elvis. The Linux folks would probably like a Bill Gates to abuse. I'd put my money on porn stars actually, not that I know any.
