Subject: Just who is the Nude Young Woman?

I'd seen her at the DAZ web site. Poserworld talked a lot about her, and made some stuff for her. But you don't see the Nude Young Woman around much. Is she a P4 or P3 lo-res figure? What relevance does she have in today's world of Millennium Figures?!

I came in late on the Poser train, so I'm sure there's "old timers" around that'd know better than I, but I think she's a P4 char with a more "young/slim" look. Compared to Vicki and Steph, I don't see much use for her any more (not that I have NYM, but with The Tailor and some scaling, Vicki can do damn near anything now). Then again, I'm biased and like the Millennium folk.

I'd say whoopdat sums it up just fine. She's Pre-Mil folk. Just like the merman, nude muscle man and so on. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

I believe she's also the same figure as the DAZ fairy, but without the wings. I have both characters and they look pretty much alike to me. I rarely use either of them. I think I've only used either of them maybe once or twice each. I don't even have them loaded on my computer at the moment. Melanie

she's the rough equivalent of p4nude - but with diff geometery. Steve Shanks from Poserworld really likes her, which is why they have some stuff for her. Like Doug said, the evolution of poser has left her and a bunch of other exclusive geomtry folk behind. The only one I regret is the DAZ(zygote) centaur. Hate the face, love the figure. way down at the bottom of my to do list is a character package with morphs and remapping for him - but I may never get aound to it.

There is some stuff for her at PoserFashion also. The figure came out a couple months before the introduction of poser 4.

When Posette was all we had-- NYW was a breath of fresh air-- she looked so gorgeous. I almost plunked down money and bought her and the fairy. I'd just gotten Poser 4 and had struggled with three pictures all of which had either broken necks or displaced shoulders. [I think there was a crossgrade from Bryce] Then I remembered how hard it was to get anything into Bryce for a background and gave up. But, oh, she looked so lovely when she came out, you can't imagine. So did the fairy. They don't seem like the same characters anymore. Emily

Emily, The NYW is indeed the lovely Fairy mesh minus the wings. If you buy the Fairy, you get the "fairy bun" hairstyle which is also very useful and feminine - one of the first styles with transmaps! You just need to apply Traveler's "no wings" morph to have both figures. She looks a lot prettier than the millennium kids, and the PoserFashion clothes are a plus. Carolly

There was a problem with the fairy and Pro Pack, anyone know if this was ever resolved?...

It appears the Nude Young Woman has some tie-in with Anime too, since that stuff keeps showing up. Here's another weird thing I found when setting up her textures. Look at this screenshot. This "section" is labelled, "whatever!" Another is labelled whiskers.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 6:53 AM

There was/is? delete...scroll, scroll, click..click...cavorte, cavorte, cavorte! She looks fine, standing there in Fairy Queen texture. Carolly

Whiskers? LOL I've noticed the "Whatever" item in the list, which was funny enough, but I don't remember the whiskers. Silly! :) Melanie

Nude Young woman I believe takes most of P4 woman morphs just beautfully whileas the fairy does but these tend to cause unwanted distortions in other areas..slight variations in mesh perhaps? Serge Marck (poserfashion.net) has done an amazing job providing both fashions and a remap of her to accept P4 woman textures. In short, she's a beautful alternative to P4 woman and with the remapped version...sky's the limit :)

saxon ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 10:03 AM

Carolly, she had her wings clipped in mine - mind you that was before any of the service upgrades happened - hang on - Ah, I stand corrected, seems she's OK now, I just never bothered with her since...

queri ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 2:42 PM

I have always been unable to download the NYW to P4 from PoserFashion. Is it still available?

queri ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 2:44 PM

I ask because the anime and morph package is free at NYW site but the Fairy is a bit cheaper right now-- much cheaper with the sale and I would be inclined to get her. For one thing she would be a stress free way to play around with texture creating. Emily

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 2:48 PM

I never had any troubles downloading the NYW to P4W from poserfashion.net... If you do decide to purchase the fairy, Laine's 3dmodel world has fuller wing/no wing cr2's available, just drop in the same library folder you have the fairy installed :) Like I've said before however, the fairy will take P4W morphs just fine but she might warp oddly.(example: elven ear morph causes her chin to jut out unexpectedly)

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 17 June 2002 at 7:38 PM

Right now, the Fairie is offered free on the cover CD with 3D World Magazine, along with the camel and the gremlin. You can get all three for the price of the magazine. Melanie
