Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 4:48 pm)
Most hair is like a special prop. It should go into the Hair library, and Poser will handle it just like it is supposed to. Sometimes an artist will create hair that is a conforming figure. It works more like clothes. So you can add it to your scene, and conform it to your person. This kind of hair needs to be in the Figure library. So the answer to your question is that you should probably leave the Hair objects where they are installed. Now all you have to do is remember where they are. Personally, I moved all of the figure-type hair objects into one folder in the Fiogures library, so I could find them. - JimX
Yeppers, I've got a "Posable Hair" folder under Characters. I've also discovered that renaming prop, character, etc folders in the library with names all starting with 2 digits (i.e., 01Clothing, 02Jewelry, 03Misc etc.) I can re-order all my library subfolders in any sequence I like - helps since I now have some 50 folders under props alone, and like the ones I use most to be at the top of the list. This way I've even got all the weapons separated in different folders: 10archery, 11knives, 12swords, 13axes, etc. - anything to make life a little easier when I'm snarled in the throes of creation.
I go the opposite way, rename hair figures to "hr2" files instead of "cr2" files, and move them into a hair directory for the character they're intended for. They work the exact same way (i.e. they'll still load as figures, just like they would in the figures library), and I know right where to go to get what I want instead of trying to remember if DesiredHair1 is a figure or a hair prop.
Abso-fraggin'-lutely positive, Hogwarden. ^_~ All of the poser files are essentially the same, the only difference is what sections are included when saved and the extension. Because of this, if say your pose section gets full, you can move things over to lights and camera. You can rename clothes figure to props, and then they won't try to replace your base figure when you load them. And you can move hair figures to live with hair props. We're all just one big happy family of Poser files. : )
Hey, FyreSpiryt, it works! I never even thought of trying that (putting renamed hair figures in a hair folder). I'm going to have a conforming version of the Hollywood hair available shortly, now I can keep it in the same folder with the hair props, thanks for the tip! You learn something new about Poser every day!
Fyre, that's amazing! Thanks! But if I save a new version of the hair figure, say with new morphs, can I save it straight into hr2 or must I go via cr2 first? Jim - a hair question for you too - your Hollywood hair - I was just using it. It struck me, that there are no MATs to go with it. Have you done any for the update? :] FishNose

Here's a noob question for ya'll that's been buggin' me. Why is some hair that I download or buy show up in the figures library rather then the hair library? And how can I get it to properly stay in the hair library, or should I keep it in the figures library if that's where it installs too?
