Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 25 9:50 pm)
Please don't take this wrong... The body shape and relative head size and shape resemble that of a weasel/martin/ferret much more than a rabbit. I realize that jack-rabbits are pretty lean, but shortening the nose and plumping up the rear will help it look more rabbitish. My suggestion? Do both. Shorten the ears and extend the tail for a weasel (I'm sure that lots of us could find a use for a weasel) with nice elongated shape, and then fatten him up for a more-typical rabbit. Carolly
where did you model it? I would suggest divideing the mesh at the mouth and making it a grouped piece, that would allow you to to bone the mouth and then remake your open/close morphs. I dont have poser pro pack, so i cant bone it for you , sorry. Have you considered dividing the mesh up at the joints and then using the phi builder and joint editor instead? There are a lot more tutorials on this method, perhaps you will have more luck that way.
Thanks for the tips, and suggestions. I will find some reference pics for a weasle and model one of those too. I used a reference pic for the rabbit as well, so it is in proportion to teh picture I had. I modeled it in max, and will go in again and separate the mouth, I have never used hte phi builder app, I usually just bone the characters in ppp, btu I am finding it difficuilt with this one, I will give it a try.

I am having some problems with teh joint set up though. I never bothered to 'open the mouth' And I think that it is modeled completely wrong cause what ever pose it goes in it looks like crap. And the eyes will not stay in its head lol., The eyes are attached to the head btu the head itself doesn't twist or move side to side, btu the eyes do. I have no Idea why, I cannot use the joint editor very well. I think that I am done with the damned bunny for now, I will not post to the free stuff but if anyone wants it as is then I will email it to them or post it hidden on my site for them.
There are a lot of problems with my hare.

I think it was coming along quite well. Of course it isnt going to look like a finished product right away, is this the forst model you've tried to "poserize"? Normally you wont be able to get it right immediately. A good idea is to just keep at it and perfect your technique. Even if you never do get your rabbit exactly right, the practice will help you do that much better on your next project. Which tutorials have you looked at? I think your moving along quite nicely.

Having watched jackrabbits playing around in open fields on my way to school, I'd have to say that the posture is all wrong. the rear is always lower to the ground. knees(?) bent. ready to hop. An interesting model none the less. As far as "boning" goes eventually you'll learn the technique for yourself if you keep at it.

heyas; the head's children bend and the head doesn't when the jp bend X is backwards. remember to point the green end towards the child, not the parent. to keep the ears from fanning out when the head bends, they must be completely between the red arms of the bend X control. your feet are having problems bending, because you modelled them bent. er, having problems UN-bending. try putting the center of the bend X towards the rear part of the bend (the wrist/ankle). you might also turn on 'apply bulge,' bend (or un-bend) the leg, and then play with the dials, to see if that helps. there's a quickie jp explanation in my tutorials section, and a how-to for doing the eye jps. you might find them helpful. :)wow that is very simple to understand the way you wrote it thanks, that really clears up a lot of things for me.

I fixxxed the ears and the feet had the same problem, they were out side of teh innner degrees thusly causing the feet to buldge. I am now going as the advanced tutorials say (curious labs) and workign from the outside in to try and fix all the joints...I do not think that it will make it 'all better' but I think it will make it a lot better.
