Subject: Back in town...

Hello, Some of you noticed that I've been rather silent of late. I've actually been in Korea this past week and returned this afternoon. My wife and I traveled to Seoul to pick up our adopted son Logan and bring him home. He's a healthy baby boy with one of the calmest dispositions I've ever seen. He's also months ahead of his time (he turns 5 months old tomorrow). So now that I've got that project under control, there's something else I've been meaning to turn my attention back to. Can't think what is might have been... Oh yeah: Poser 5! :-) Anthony Hernandez Curious Labs

Congratulations :) Babies bring with them much joy and often tears.. My own babies are now 'gulp' are 23 and 21 and looking back all the hair tugging and worrying is far outweighed by the sheer joy of watching them become who they are today. Pass on my best wishes to your wife on this joyous occasion. Helen

Well... it's 1:02AM our first night home. Robyn and i haven't slept in 2 days, meaning we have 0 jet lag. A good thing. However, no one bothered telling Logan about this. To him, it's 4PM and he's a ball of energy. Ouch. 17 years, 7 months, and hours to go...

Helen ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 3:08 AM

Ah forgot to mention the initiation, lack of sleep is part and parcel of being a new parent. I am guessing Logan's body clock is probably out of sync. Chances are he will soon settle into a routine. Your way out on that time frame ;) (17 years, 7 months, and hours to go...)... It NEVER ends.. Helen

Congrats on the adoption. A family friend went to a China 3+ years ago and adopted a wonderful little girl, Annie. It has been a blast watching Annie grow. May you have the same joy my friends have had with your little boy. I'm sure he'll bring a smile to your lips every day. :)

So he's screaming and fussing, not wanting to sleep. Me. I'm exhausted and recall a friend of mine's motto "better livign through pharmacology". Thus was born the following lullaby, sung to the tune of Eidelweiss: Benadryl, Sominex, baby's getting so tired Phenobarb, Valium, baby's going to sleep now Drugs make you feel however you want However you want whenever Dramamine, Ambien, baby's gone to sleep now. Sung in a low resonant voice at low volume, this both did the trick and garnered looks ranging from amusement to apoplexy from the few passengers seated within earshot. (and just in case this isn't eminently clear, this song is totally tongue-in-cheek. I'd never actually give sleeping medication to a child!) ;-) Anthony

Our familily is waiting for word that a brother and sister-in-law can leave for Korea for our beautiful new niece, so can appreciate your (sleepy) joy. One of the best things someone told me with the birth of my first was that with children the days are long, but the years are short - astonishinly true and good to remember on those days you think will never end. Congratulations and much happiness!

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 5:54 AM

Gryff, I IM'd you. If they went through Holt, I have a boatload of info they will find useful. And if they're going to Seoul in general, I can comment on that as well. We went almost everywhere in Seoul. Lotsa schlepping crammed into 4 days.

Congrats Anthony. That comment about 17 yrs. until it's over cracked me up. I guess nobody told you the truth about having kids. You generally aren't able to boot them out until they are in their 20's. And even then, a lot of them boomerang back a few times until they stick. ;-) ScottA

BluesPadawan ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 10:29 AM

Oh, don't I know that fact Scott...my son is 20, and I just had to dig him out of some hot water so to speak because the brain and body weren't in gear at the same time. It's been told to me that these two usually catch up to each other about the age of 25....gawd, that's another 4 years and 10 months. Nothing too serious, but serious enough that it rattled him. Guess that is what Mom's are for. Blues

Congratulations! Babies are such a joy. Even when they are screaming, you look at those tiny toes and fingers and are in awe. Our first Daughter was 12 weeks premature and when she finally came home it occurred to us that this child hadn't seen darkness since the womb. (she was now 3 months old). Her schedule had nothing to do with day and night. Her godfather helped alot when he took over for a few evenings and explained accounting theory and practice. She was out like a light within 5 mins. So your little lullaby make sence to me. lol. Good luck.

dadamson ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 11:03 AM

Congrats!!! This is wonderful... being an adopted child myself, I sincerely wish to congratulate you both!!

Everseer ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 11:30 AM

strange sleepin' patterns and bein' up until all hours of the night, messy eatin' habits, droolin', unintelligable speech, and throwin' tantrums when things don't go a certain way......all these things i promised my wife i'd stop doin' when our son was born nine months ago :) wishin' you and your family all the happiness parenthood brings Ever

Apparently when kids get to my age (15) they start answering back, start arguments, fights, etc. Although I'm not like that my mum just exagerates. Honest. Chris

Welcome back, Anthony. And congrats on the new family member - be sure to apply the right morphs to her at the right time as she grows up. If you've forgotten how, there was some guy here on R'osity some time ago who claimed he wrote the manual, he might still know his way around Poser - if he's not too occupied by other things these days ;o)

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 4:35 PM

Manual? Poser? What on Earth are you babbling about??? :-P Anthony

Olga ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 8:21 PM

Read the poser manual out loud and that baby will be sleeping in no time. Congratulations!

Does the "Monalee" P4 morph ring a bell or two?

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Mon, 08 July 2002 at 11:54 PM

Well suck my teat and call me a biatch! Send me an image and I'll get to this after some immediate fires are put out.

Take your time, fellah. Your hands are full enough. I'll send off pics sometime later this week.
