Way to go Thomas! As someone else who's been down the self build route, I think you deserve a pat on the back. :-) For me the really nerve-racking part is taking that little strip of thermal paper off the processor heatsink before sticking it down!....Yikes!...Cringe!...Yelp!... ;-) Dave :-)

Ooh, spiffy! I've been thinking of building another beast for a while now. Since I'm also a gamer, I gotta keep my system somewhat current with the latest hardware. Too bad the Northwoods (the good P4s) are so expensive. Oh well, I like the Athlons a lot, and they're cheaper as well. :)

Gotta agree Joe! - I've been using Athlons for my last three builds and they are fabulous, no problems whatsoever matey. Gotta love that price too! :-) Dave :-)

have you guys installed that 4-in-1 driver? i read on some forums it's a must, the other say no way... what do you think?

I`ve built 30 systems in the last 18 months and all get the newest Via 4 in 1. Have never had a problem with any of them. Definitely a good go.

Aleks- If your setup is working well, then don't install the 4-in-1 drivers. If, on the other hand, you're having problems, say for instance stability issues, or you can't enable DMA for your CD/DVD etc, then you try the 4-in-1. Generally speaking, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Oh, and make sure you're using a VIA chipset, not all athlon mother boards do. Regards- Lemurtek

Hi aleks, If I remember correctly, the last time I DID install the VIA 4-in-1 drivers, but after reading somewhere that there may be problems installing them in "Turbo" mode, I chose "Standard" mode instead. "Standard" or "Normal" mode is supposed to give you more stability over speed...so far no problems. (fingers crossed!) Dave :-)
