Subject: Grouping tool question

Raddar ( ) posted Tue, 09 July 2002 at 4:26 PM ยท edited Sun, 03 November 2024 at 1:35 PM

I am using the grouping tool on the MilBabies head. I am only trying to group out a mask but I keep getting pieces in the group that I dont want, ie. the teeth, inside the mouth, inside the nostrils, inside the ears, the back of the eyeballs, etc. etc. And the most frustrating are those @*#&%%^$ upper eyebrows. I cant for the life of me seem to get the skin under them selected without getting them along with it. What are those stupid things for anyway since they are most always transparent and you see right through them. Anyway any tips on grouping would be very helpfull. Thanks.

the upper eyebrows are supposed to be used with a transmap for a more realistic look. now to your main question (I'll use vicky to illistrate) 1. With the head selected go to grouping area & select new group and click ok when prompted. (so far so good you've probably already gone this far)

2. now locate the button "include material" select Skinhead from the pull down menu. repeat for Eyebrows, Lips & Nostrils (lips & nostrils optional, depending on if they will be included in the mask)

3. now create a new prop from this. you now have somthng to work with. no upper brow, no eyes & no lashes.

  1. click remove all & start selecting what you want for yor mask. when you select sections you dont want, click "invert group" select the error, then invert again. good luck

"when you select sections you dont want, click "invert group" select the error, then invert again." ... Or just hold down the ctrl key (alt key? one of those) and select... that de-selects.

Shadowcat, thanks a million, you have brought my frustration level back down to a managable level. Those tips work great. Thanks again.
