Subject: Update numbers confusion

Lyne ( ) posted Sat, 13 July 2002 at 1:18 PM ยท edited Sat, 03 August 2024 at 6:31 AM

Before e-on's announcment, I just went through my site and changed my numbers from Vue 4.3 to 4.1, because I had gotten my 4's and 3's mixed up.. I actually have and use Poser 4.3 and what I thought was Vue 4.1 BUT as I read this.. I guess I have to change again... to 4.01?? I have the very first patch that made vue 4 (for example) have the word "sunlight" on the objects list on the right side of the vue interface... My version of vue works perfectly (well, as long as I speed it up by turning the open gl off) and I will never patch up beyond this one.. what ever one I DO have!! (going to re-check and be sure I have ALL the version numbers on my personal site!) but from now on when I post an image in the gallery here, and say Vue 4.1, it means the version 4 with the very FIRST patch! LOL!! Lyne

You have done well Lyne. And I recommend to all users to do so too. Support can only be provided for Vue 4.1 from now on. (And of course for Vue 2 and 3) :-)Guitta

confusion I have "done well"? I did NOT update to 4.1 that e-on just announced... I have vue 4.01-something... I don't think the very first update that e-on put out for vue 4 is what they are announcing now. As I was trying to explain, I need to find the exact version string of numbers and post that to be clear on which patch I am using. I have seen so many problems with patches and updates, that I will not go through all the adjustments needed to patch up... and take the chance that my particular version's reaction to the patch(s) would be favorable... SO I am staying with the "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" school of thought, and continuing to enjoy vue more than any other program! :) Lyne

Sorry, I misunderstood (my English). If it is your wish not to update, that's OK. But believe me, we habe tested this update and there are many things you absolutely cannot do with Vue 4.01:-) Guitta

Lyne,

to find the exact version you are using, choose 'about' from the help menu in Vue. A box will pop up with the version number (including the exact build number).

Lyne,
I just downloaded the 4.1 FULL-update patch and everything went fine. That was updating from 4.1 beta. Also, E-on has improved the install program as well. One click and your there!
