Silly question really when Poser5 is released & I order it from the CL website how quickly can I expect to have the box in my hands? told you it was a silly question. Rob

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 6:23 AM

How quickly do you want it? Will you pay plane fare from California? I'm sure that a courier could be arranged. :)

Routledge ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 6:29 AM

Knowing my luck there would be a postal strike the day after I order it!

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 6:31 AM

if I have to I'll catch a plane and go over to pick it up myself :)

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 6:33 AM

ps I'm terrified of flying but that's how much I really want to get hold of Poser5

jchimim ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 6:58 AM

Why don't we all fly/drive/boat/walk to California, and just sit on their doorstep? Sleeping bags? I'll bring the instant coffee...

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 7:01 AM

it's funny CL must be 1 of only a very few companies in the whole world who have people begging them to take their money :) Rob

JDexter ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 7:15 AM

I don't know about that, when Everquest had it's expansion, and Dark Age of Camelot was released, the people camping outside the local software stores was amazing. And yes, someone did book a bus full of people for the trip to the distributers so they could get it as soon as it was released. It's actually kinda fun camping the release of new software, sometimes mor fun thatn the software itself ;) JDexter

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 7:21 AM

Camping out on company doorstep to buy software the moment it's released? Sheesh, and I thought that the Star Wars fanatics were bad ....

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 7:25 AM

I camped out once to get my favourite authors' autograph, but I haven't camped out for software yet, bit difficult camping out from over here in UK :) Rob

SAMS3D ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 8:08 AM

We should just take a breath and relax with what we all have, I know it is exciting, but I would prefer not to rush them and make sure it is almost a perfect piece of software by the time I get it. I too am excited, but I think I can wait.....hmmmmmm.....now that I think about it maybe I can't......see I am already getting more excited just talking about it.....hey where it that bus we are to get on for CL.....Sharen

jchimim ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 8:22 AM

Let's see... Need coffee, beer, porta-pottys, electricity, and (of course) high-speed internet access. I'm sure CL can arrange to have all that in their parking lot for loyal customers...

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 8:26 AM

I was given a link recently to a piece of news about a fanatic who is trying to break the world record by camping out for 50 days outside his local retailers for a new PC game.....I dont think we have reached that stage yet :)

starlet ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 10:36 AM

...you kno jchimim, they did just repave our parking lot and add a very decorative wooden chinese temple looking thing to our trash area... ...or for those of you who live in exciting tropical locations, I am SURE that kupa would allow you to pay for me to fly and deliver your copy of Poser 5...I prefer first class. :) your cl cs gal, tori

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 10:44 AM

lol I think not tori :) I'll go for normal delivery if you don't mind too much ;) Rob

jchimim ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 10:44 AM

Hmmm... trash area.... under the "wooden chinese temple looking thing..." If you see a short, fat stout, exceedingly good looking guy digging through you garbage, don't be alarmed, probably just a city inspector or something, or maby looking for CD's, magnetic media, paper, etc to recycle... ;)

JDexter ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 10:51 AM

Don't knock camping for anything, you meet a lot of nice people and end up making friends along the way. And it is a very young thing to do, and considering I'm not actually young anymore, it makes me feel young and carefree. JDexter

maclean ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 3:39 PM

Hey C1rcle? Who's your favorite author? Ian Banks, maybe? mac

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 3:43 PM

nope, James Herbert, go on you've never heard of him :) no not the one who wrote the vet books, he's a bit like steven king, hasn't written as many books but all have been really good. Rob

maclean ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 5:06 PM

Sure I know James Herbert. Didn't he write 'The Fog'? Actually, I prefer Frank Herbert. LOL Steven King is about the only horror writer I read. I did try....er....what's his name? The one who wrote 'Cabal' and 'Hellraiser'. British geezer. Oh well, him... mac PS James Herriot - from Glasgow, like me. Love the books! PPS I might camp out for an autograph from George Orwell or Mervyn Peake, but that's about it! The only good author's a dead one....usually! LOL

jchimim ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 5:13 PM

James Herbert's pretty good, I remember "Moon" and "Fluke" of the top of my head... Been reading everything I can get from Dean Koontz lately....

maclean ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 5:19 PM

Mmmm...Dean Koontz. You must read 'Intensity' Great book! mac

jchimim ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 5:35 PM

Yep, agree that was one of his better ones. Think my favorite was "Phantoms." Actually pretty well keeping up with the paperback releases. Wish he'd write as fast as I read :)

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 3:19 AM

Clive Barker the British Geezer you're trying to think of maclean :) I just got his latest "Coldheart Canyon" got all but 1 of James Herberts' books too, Orwell, 1984 is the only one I've read of his. I thought the Watcher was a great book much better than the films. Rob

hauksdottir ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 3:44 AM

The Fog? That wasn't the source of a certain movie of the same title was it? Plot (IIRC): Developers look at scenic Califonia property already occupied by a leper's colony. They pack the lepers into a ship and send them out to sea, scuttling the boat, after which they build a lovely resort community over the ashes of the old one. 100 years later (when the movie begins) they are celebrating the birthday of the town when the fog rolls in from the ocean. Zombie Lepers (or leprous zombies?) come out of the fog terrorizing everybody. I think the final scenes were on top of a lighthouse where somebody was trying to radio for help? Is this close? Carolly

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 10:38 AM

nope the book was about a biological weapon developed by the English military that gets released by accident and becomes a free roaming fog that turns people mad. much better than the film which had a really daft ending. Rob

maclean ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 2:30 PM

Yep...don't go out in the fog...you'll go ga-ga! Ha-ha! Well, the movie's usually exactly what you thought the book was about...if you read it on acid while having a nervous breakdown... mac Clive Barker...of course....that's the geezer! LOL

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 2:36 PM

I'm reading Clives' latest masterpiece, Coldheart Canyon, but it's not that good so far, I'm at a bit where the "hero" has to have his dog put to sleep & it's rather upsetting, I keep telling myself it's only a book. Rob
