Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:34 pm)
Yes, it works:-). Not very interesting for me, because my second computer is an old Pentium 300. It took longer to render 1 image on both computers then with only one, because Vue needs a little time to send the scene and the textures to the render cow of the second machine. But I only have tried a 320x240 image. Guitta
Wow very cool Guitta, thanks for the effort! We have all sorts of machines at my studio and I was hoping to find out if it worked before I purchased Mover. Good to know that it does, (well it looks like it does according to Guitta's test). This would be a great addition to Vue. I agree with NightVoice that E-on needs to reword Movers explanation on this since some of us would like to use that feature for large single images and not only animations. Thanks for the replys and hard work on this guys :-) Looks like I need to purchase Mover now.
Gebe, I have a question and not sure if you can answer it. I was looking at this quote from e-on:"Distributed network rendering of animations." Now that sounds pretty clear that is just for animations. What I am wondering is, did you see something that showed the single image was being split between the computers, or is it possible that that both computers rendered the same image? Maybe the program was confused, it knows to do rotate on the frames, but when only one frame, maybe they both did it? Please know I am not trying to doubt you here, just very curious. :)
Also there seems to be two features of rendercow. "
Multi-processor RenderCow rendering engine" This one sounds like it means it can use both processors in one computer(if you have a multi proc system and have xp-pro or nt/2000) I wonder if that right there could also work for single images. :)
RenderCow has to be installed on each computer of the network. When RenderCow is busy on the 2 or more machines from the network, you can always click its icone (on each computer) to know what it is doing right now. On the machine where Vue is installed (the principal machine) there will also be HyperVue Network Render Manager. It is a kind of a control center that dispatches rendering jobs to all the RenderCows on your network and then collects the resulting images once they are completed. While rendering on RenderCows, you do not see any render, you just see what's written in the rendercows and what they are doing, as told before. More questions? I don't know how exactly it works with multi processor as I don't have it. I'm not good in animation (and not in Poser either), just a beginner who trys and hopes to become better:-) Guitta
gebe, Thanks for the info, I suppose that would work. I might as well get Mover and try this out sometime. Maybe in a future update to it they can work it so it renders on still images too. Either way this will be a big help in render times. I do a lot of poster size 3d renderings for clients and need high res images. So mover would be a great help in that area. Thanks again for testing that out for me, ImagineThat
Some more: Each computer of the network renders a different frame. If you have 3 computers of equivalent power on your network, the animation will render 3 times faster. This text is from e-onsoftware. As it is explained here, I'm not sure, your two or more computers will really work on one and the same still image. Guitta

I have a questions on Mover and couldnt find where to post it on e-ons site. The question I have is that i noticed Mover will let you use other computers to help render animations (each one rendering a frame). Will it let you use the other computers processing power to help render a still image? I think Bryce does this but I was curious to know if Mover will do this for one image and not an animation.
