when I wanted to be what I am now"
FWTempest - 3 bromyaur - 2 ICMGraphics - 1 It's always tough to vote for these, but I still like to give long winded explainations! FWT: Though some of the Atleantian aesthetic is not my taste (I've never been a huge fand of gold), I like the depth and subtle repetition in the render. I especially like the temple just to the right of the foreground building -- It looks so good that I keep staring at it, and up the mountainside. You've also done a good job at convincing me that people live there. Most Bryce renders appear as ghost towns. And that hustle and bustle leads to why I put ICM 3rd. I also am drawn by the use of foreground, middleground and background. It sets up a nice depth, and I love the early morning at the docks feel, I can almost feel the cool, wet ocean breeze and I long for a good cup of joe. That same morning feel brings in bromyaur. The thick mist, and then red early morning light is nice feel. I like he very subtle texture on the buildings which makes them feel like adobe. And, since this is a sea-side place, I can't help but get the expression "Red in the morning, sailors take warning." It's an interesting foreshadowing into the eventual loss of Atlantis that I really enjoy. Was it intentional? I've been pining over honorable mentions at this point. There are so many great images that express brilliant concept, vibrant expressionism, and even some cartoony anime elements that, despite not being an anime fan myself, they make for very interesting narratives. I wish I could have voted for all of them. Great work, gang!
Its always sad to narrow down great entrys to only 3, and i had a hard time with it! Great entrys from everyone! Here it goes... nuski - 3 FWTempest - 2 vasquez - 1 ...that workshop doesnt sound like a bad idea... :)

Rochr - 3 ICMgraphics-2 vasquez - 1 To see all the images together for the first time was visually intense! It is also amazing that this forum permits a group of individual artists to come together and display their individual styles and creative ideas. It is very difficult to weigh one artwork against another. When it was time to make my final selections, I based my choices on three characteristics; creativity, detail and craftmanship. Being new to Renderosity, this was my first Challenge and I enjoyed the experience. In the future, I hope that more artists accept the Challenge!
ok... here's my 2 cents... I understood the theme of this month's challenge to be 'The Golden Age of Atlantis'; which, to my mind at least, implies 'Atlantis at the height of its civilization', rather than 'the fall of Atlantis'. Which would, again to my mind, would eliminate some outstanding images this month. Therefore, with that in mind.... 3-rochr(surprise, surprise)... I love the POV looking down the hill and the depth. I agree with what you said in your original post that even in a civilization's "Golden Age" there will still be those neighborhoods which are not quite as "golden" 2-ICMgraphics... perhaps it is early morning and the bustling multitudes aren't all awake yet. 1-nuski... very nice first entry. This month is only my second. If you modelled this completely in Bryce, and I have no reason to doubt it, then I am definitely impressed. Also, many kudos (though no points, sorry) to airflamesred and johnpenn for their 'think-pieces'. Loved them both.

Rochr : 3 So obviously the best even though I think this guy has been playing Myst/Riven/Exile for far too long. ICMGraphic: 2 It was the camera angle that did it for me; almost as if the Statue was waiting for the day to start. Airflamesred: 1 for his wit. Well done to everyone, especially the new guys! By the way: I think PATRICIA's work should be given a viewing. It is difficult to make the deadline if things haven't been going your way. Regards The Bryster (Chris)Ok I hate doing this but i guess its neccesary to only pick three Rochr - 3 Cant even find the words to praise this one Nuski - 2 Love the similarity to venice and the sail masts on the ships vasquez - 1 for the coloring.. and the skybridges.. never enough skybridges.. Although i think patricia's would have beaten both nuski and vasquez.. rotten luck hon theres always next time..
Rochr 3 LynnDee 2 nuski 1 Outstanding job, one and all.
This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Rochr - 3 ICMgraphics - 2 FWTempest - 1 This was tough, ICMgraphics entry was actually closer to my vision of what Atlantis would look like, but the execution of Rochr's entry was a smoother, more integrated render. The FWTempest concept was also good, just not as polished of a render. All three put a lot of thought and time into their work and it paid off. Well done!
