Subject: Poser 5 Pricing Structure

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 4:10 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 12:51 PM

Ok, I think everyone knows that Poser 5 is going to be on a tiered pricing structure. I would like to place my guess on the prices for Poser 4, and PPP users, and to hear what everyone else's guesses are, (especially kupa's, ;-) Stand Alone, $549 Poser Pro Pack Upgrade, $99 - $150 Poser 4 Upgrade, $150 - $250 Poser 3 Upgrade, $300 - $400 Poser 2 Upgrade, $500 Poser 1 Upgrade, $548.50

kupa ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 4:13 PM

Those numbers are way high in some places, and surround the real number in other places. Tuesday, all will be revealed.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 4:14 PM

YEEEEEEe-HAAAAAWW! I can't wait!!!! Thank you Kupa!!!! TUESDAY. . .

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 5:22 PM

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WhoooHoooo! P5 pricing & "Lord of the Rings" on DVD on the same day! (....Oooops, I didn't type that out loud, did I?)

Xena ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 5:37 PM

LMAO @ leatherguy. Are you as bad as me and have LOTR ordered to buy the day it's released? ;)

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 5:50 PM

Of course! (It's the only way to redeem myself for not having had time to see it in the theatres..... :-((

maclean ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 6:58 PM

Here're mine Stand Alone, $549 Poser Pro Pack Upgrade, $100 Poser 4 Upgrade, $150 Poser 3 Upgrade, $300 Poser 2 Upgrade, $548.98 Poser 1 Upgrade, $548.99 Do we win anything if we're right, Kupa? mac

crisjon1950 ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 7:40 PM

Um, well it's one thing to anticipate the final release of the price on Tuesday. But then we'll know if we can ever think of affording Poser 5. But when Poser 5 is out, some people will have to find another excuse to post countless repetitive threads.

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 7:52 PM

If you HAVEN'T gotten your Blockbuster LOTR movie card, RUN don't walk! You get one rental per week PLUS LOTR on Tuesday all for $25 or so. I know what I'm doing Tuesday night!

dan whiteside ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 8:01 PM

I hope Tues. there will be cross-platform pricing as well. I'd very much like to get both and would happily get the PC version when it comes out as long as I don't have to upgrade twice at full price. Otherwise I'll wait for the Mac version, which I have greater access to.

Xena ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 8:03 PM

We don't have a Blockbuster here, but Civic is giving away a pewter pendant with each copy of the DVD sold :) Tacky but kinda cute LOL leather-guy, you need a damned good spanking for not seeing it in the theatre tsk tsk tsk

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 8:23 PM

I know! Nothing beats a big screen for total immersion, but the girl I was dating then didn't care for fantasy, and was the type who was hurt if I'd do anything without her. Off to see if i can find it at a revival theatre somewhere..... Message671414.jpg

sbucci ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:14 PM

First of all...whoohoo...no wait...WHOOHOOO! Can't wait til tuesday.

Poser 5 pricing and Simpsons Season 2.

LOTR...waiting until November for the edition with 30 extra minutes that supposedly gives it an R rating with 6 hours of extras, not the measly 2 hours of this week's edition.

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:18 PM

...so maybe you should put it off for a while. Just kidding.

kupa ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:28 PM

if you want we could postpone the site going live for a week...

kupa ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:28 PM

;-)

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:33 PM

No No-no No-no-no No-no-no-no No-no-no-no-no ...Well, you get the idea!!! Message671414.jpg

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 9:37 PM

kupa posted at least one message to the forum at 14:55...and as recently as a few minutes ago...I'm going to have to pick up some Red Bull on Monday.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 10:38 PM

Well, leather-guy, I saw LOTR 48 times... and was still seeing new details. Excellent film. Tolkien's works (serious as well as fantasy) provided the impetus to my choice of major and careerpath, so there is some slight bias. ;^) But if Jackson had pulled another Bakshi, we would have shredded him. I've ordered the DVD directly from New Line. It means a slight wait, but I'd rather that the makers get the money. They risked a lot up front on this project, and I'd like to encourage them. I'll be watching a website on Tuesday. :) Unless, of course, my neighbors pick up the DVD. Actually, I'll have a houseguest for a week, so won't be posting much, if at all. Carolly

do NOT buy LOTR DVD, rent it!!! You'll be pissed off if you do buy it. This DVD coming out is a 2 DVD set, they've already anounced a 4 DVD LOTR set due for release in November that will contain a HUGE amount of extras not in this set. Usually the studios wait at least a year to piss their customers off by releasing a better version of a DVD, these guys are only waiting 2 months. Makes you appreciate that software guys like CL allow you to upgrade at a cheaper price. Wish the movie studios would follow their example.

ryamka ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 11:59 PM

NW316, You are picking the wrong fight here. New Line Cinema was up front about what they were releasing and when from the get go. That was to let people know what was going to be available and when. They have provided full details of all three editions. Just FYI... The two hours of "extras" on this version WILL NOT BE included on the other two version that will be released later in the year.

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 2:53 AM

My copy of LOTR is booked & I'm picking it up tomorrow, and now Poser5 gets something in the way of an official announcement on the site, tomorrow is going to be a good day for me :)))) Anthony, Steve & anyone else from CL looking good luck for tomorrow and thank you. :) Rob

Xena ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 3:05 AM

Anthony, Steve & anyone else from CL looking good luck for tomorrow and thank you. :) Hear hear! Well said Rob. I too, thank you all for everything ... but especially Poser 4 - yes 4. Where would we all be today if it wasn't for Poser 4 :) Certainly not awaiting any tiny scrap of news about Poser 5 with such anticipation LOL

NW316 ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 3:50 AM

I don't care if they're up front or not, fact is a majority of people won't know there is going to be more than one version of LOTR released, if it wasn't a money grab why not release all versions at once & allow people to pick which one to buy. I'll take it back if they have signs up in the stores telling of the other versions that are going to be released later but somehow I doubt they will. Either that or have people save their receipts & use them to get a discount on a purchase of the other versions.

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 4:02 AM

I'm not worried about the extra content that's going to be shipped with the later versions of LOTR, I'm buying it for the film I saw twice at the cinema & the books I've read countless times over the years. New Line didn't keep it a secret that they were planning to release more than one version otherwise we'd never have heard about it. I think I'd probably be playing games if it wasn't for poser Xena, I'm infinitely better with poser than I am at playing games so no big loss there really. Rob

wdupre ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 7:56 AM

I too will wait for holiday release for LOTR. My brother prebooked the aug 6 release,:) best of both worlds, huh? As for CL and the website update I can't wait! I'll only be truely happy when I have that pretty new box in my sweaty little hands. and I agree with Xena I wouldn't be awaiting P5 with baited breath if I didn't love P4 so much. by the way can someone tell me what baited breath means anyway. does that mean I smell like worms or something, EEUUUHHH!!! ;)

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 8:11 AM

So is the Poser release date tomorrow as well? You guys act like this is a present or something, you are buying it not getting it for free. Marque

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 8:16 AM

nope I don't think its release tomorrow, but we've waited a long time for this or any news about poser5 Rob

Xena ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 8:22 AM

by the way can someone tell me what baited breath means anyway LMAO How about "pissed as a cricket" ??? Do they drink? LOL Or "cheap at half the price". Well duh! Rob, I'd be playing Tiberium Sun/Red Alert/Yuri's Revenge FAR too much :) At least having published art I can justify the amount of time I spend in Poser LOL

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 8:32 AM

Halflife took up a heck of a lot of my time when it first arrived, the "They Hunger" addon was the scariest I've played in years, but now I sit here rendering crap images that hopefully will never be seen by anyone & the odd flash of brilliance helps me to make something good. Rob

sbucci ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 9:39 AM

Steve/CL,
I think you can tell by the ping-ponging of this thread between Poser 5 and LOTR, we want a Poser 5 Directors Cut with optional commentary each time we use the Cloth or Hair tool.

wdupre ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 9:59 AM

How about the P5 Man extended cut ;) (bad billslapping his own wrist bad, bad, bill)

Bobasaur ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 10:18 AM

I'd love to see the P5 Music Video in the extras, too. Or maybe if I practice real hard (and get the assistance of a good art director) I can make the P6 music video!

Before they made me they broke the mold!

maclean ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 3:19 PM

'by the way can someone tell me what baited breath means anyway' The expression is 'bated breath' and it means 'holding your breath', as in 'waiting for something, and so tensed-up that you don't breathe' It comes originally from 'abated - diminished', but is only used in that one expression now. Basically, one of those dumb phrases that's outlived it's time. A bit like 'he escaped unscathed'. Have you ever been 'scathed'? LOL. Sounds awful, whatever it is! mac

Xena ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 5:01 PM

Mac, you are a veritable font of information ;)

maclean ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 5:36 PM

Ha-ha! I've been called a lot of things, but never a 'veritable font'. I guess you mean I'm a 'real character'? LOL 'Scuse the horrible pun. mac PS And no, I DON'T have Encarta, the 'Disneyland version of the Encyloepedia' PPS Xena...I saw LOTR in the theater, but if you're dealing out spankings, can I have one anyway? PPPS On second thoughts...I'd rather be the spanker than the spankee. PPPPS On third thoughts, forget I said that. mac goes back to studying 'Zen and the Art of Perversion'

Bobasaur ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 8:09 PM

Xena, is that you or are you teasing us cruelly? If it is you, do you have an action figure? Or a Posette Character file? Possibly more questions later after I peruse the site more deeply.

Veritable font = real character, roflmao Took me a second, but that is the best pun I have seen ANYWHERE in a long, long time, maclean :-)

Xena ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 2:30 AM

He's damned good with those puns isn't he :) And no, Bobasaur, it's not me. Just a link a friend gave me the other day :) I love spkiy stuff though and thought with Mac referring to "fetish" it would be appropriate :) And btw ... my youngest son has a "action" figure of you, along with Pikachu, Drowsy and Hypno :)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 5:32 AM

Actually, some of us use bated breath properly as well as in puns. The cat who eats cheese and sits in front of the mousehole does so with baited breath; a photographer who waits for that right instant does so with bated breath. The word lives in "abatement districts". I've never studied Latin, but wouldn't be surprised to discover that it was behind reprobate, probate, rebate and a lot of other seemingly unlikely words. Like Maclean, I do not own Encarta. My house dictionary is the O.E.D. with backup from the Random House, and my idea of a pleasant evening is a cup of hot cocoa, a cat, and a fruitful browsing session. :) Carolly

crisjon1950 ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 6:36 AM

Um, gee, I hate to poop on the party, but I came here for info on Poser 5.... Can you guys make another thread for LOTR?!

wdupre ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 7:28 AM

How many threads are there in this forum on P5? I've seen dozens. so what if one goes a little off topic. Besides the CL site is up and the question has been answered. all we can do now is sit back and wait for the release date.

maclean ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 2:18 PM

I too have an OED, which I like to browse. But, more than that, I have a shameful secret. I like to read books. Yes, I know it's a bit radical and unfashionable, but I read. Constantly and continuously. And if I come across a word I don't know....I look it up. mac PS The storm has abated, so now I can bait my hook and wait with bated breath for a fish to bite the bait. PPS Industrial Bitch - LOL

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 06 August 2002 at 5:59 PM

Xena, A friend at work gave me "my" action figures. It was a set that included a guy who looked like me along with a baby. Both had my skin tone and somehow both had my moustache (I don't think that was originally on the figures). It's made by Fisher-Price. ;-)

Before they made me they broke the mold!
